Have been suffering with neuropathic pain for seven years following surgery for cervical stenosis. I’ve resisted taking medication but the pain is getting worse and I find it hard to endure.
Has anyone found Lyrica effective for neuropathic pain and what side effects do they experience. Would be grateful for any response positive or negative or any other suggestions. Thanks

Thanks for your reply. Sativex is still not available in France and I tried the oil but no effect. I was prescribed tramadol but that doesn’t touch the pain and only causes constipation. You know it is ironic that I’ve beaten breast cancer twice but this nerve damage is the worst thing I’ve had to live with.
The only medication touching my nerve pain is pregabalin. It does not take it away but makes it more bearable. You have to watch what you eat with it or rather how much as otherwise you put on weight (I put on over a stone but am loosing it again now by reducing my food intake). The dizziness I experienced went away and the sleepiness too after a while.
I was on Lyrica for 9 years and it definitely helped with neuropathic pain. I came off it 2 years ago as I was suffering from memory loss and confusion. I am now on amitriptyline.
I was initially diagnosed with I.C., and was experienced horrible pain (in my vagina) every time I peed. I was already on Gabapentin but I was still experiencing pain, so Lyrica was added. As far as pain relief, it was amazing. For the first time in many years, I had pain free days. However, one day I was on the phone and was asked my address. I blanked. (We have lived here for 9 years.) I knew that I had to get off of it. Plus, it was also affecting me at work. I finally saw a urogynecologist and she thinks it is my pelvic floor muscle that's the culprit.....
Hi there, I take pregabilin and kapake which does give me a bit of relief but it works differently for each person , amitriptyline is another which is good but there is side effects with it , I liked it but it sent me into retention so had to come off it and go on pregabilin, hope it works out for you as it's not nice to live with chronic pain .
Hi there - I was on gabapentin but I didn't feel that it made any difference. I am now on lyrica (pregablin) 150mg twice a day and I can really notice a difference. I am also taking Nefopam and have done so for a couple of years - this helped significantly when I was in the acute stage of Guillain-barre syndrome.
Having had all sorts of medication for nerve pain in my back Pregablin is the only one that has helped my pain. I take the highes dose allowed, but there are side affects such as I have balance problems and sometimes i get my words muddled. I have put on weight mainly becase it seems to make me eat a lot more. but i would rather that than the pain I was in. I hope it helps you.
