Oxycodone Hydrochloride: Doctor prescribed... - Pain Concern
Oxycodone Hydrochloride
The oxynorm is quick acting- 20 minutes. And lasts for about 6 hours.
The Oxycontin is slower to act- about one hr, and may only last for 8to 10 hrs, depending on the metabolism of the patient. It only lasts 9 hrs with me ( 65kg and high metabolism- I burn up energy fast )
Hope that helps.
Thanks, but what I'm asking is that, the Doctor prescribed Oxycodone Hydrochloride 40 mgs BD,so which one to give ,Oxynorm which is the normal one or Oxycontin slow released.
I take a mix of both Oxynorm and Oxycontin. Bearing in mind we are all different, Oxynorm works within 5 minutes for me and Oxycontin takes 10 minutes, however I find a mix of both very helpful indeed. I only take this medication as and when I need it, not on a daily basis otherwise I would just get used to it. I prefer Oxynorm, however as I said, we are all different and really you need to discuss the options with your doctor to get their professional opinion based on your circumstances. Good luck and I really hope you find something to help your pain xx
