Side effects of cortisone injections
I receive cortisone injections with lidocaine in my lower back for herniated discs .. I’m always left feeling a bit dizzy for a while too. But the injections are helping my back pain so I just endure the side effects.
Did you get the lidocaine infusion at this clinic

@DizzyQueez after my procedures while I’m sitting with the other patients in the recovery room.. I make it a habit of introducing myself & giving everyone gentle hugs. We may be strangers but we’re related through humanity & all suffering & seeking relief from Pain together. Yes we must keep our sense of humor, as well as our compassion for others. Gentle hugs to ALL 💜
I had very bad reactions to it. It made my body go into a crisis and I had to be in hospital for over a week, both times as they didn’t think it was the injection causing it. Plus it never helped my hip.
Do you mean you just feel ill or something else?
Hi, This is Granny37. I have had numerous cortisone injections throughout many years, due to hip pain, knee, shoulder and buttocks. I've never had any problems, maybe a little pain in the area of the injection for maybe 10 hrs. or so. They definitely helped me. I will say, that under one circumstance, a PA gave me a shot in the muscle by the hip area to help my pain. My leg started getting weak that afternoon and by the next morning I couldn't hardly walk without holding onto something and the pain was very bad. As the evening went on my condition worsened to the point that I could hardly walk and my leg was totally numb. It also affected my bladder.
I ended up in the Emergency Room in a wheelchair. I was admitted for about 3 days and they did PT on me, pain pump and a few other things. I wasn't allowed out of bed as my leg wouldn't hold me up. It took over a week or more to get back to normal. It was a terrible experience. I remember the PA telling me that sometimes that the cortisone shot could affect the muscle and that's exactly what it did. There is a name for it, but can't remember what it's called. I went home with a walker and had PT in for a couple of weeks.
I was told that in the future if I ever had another cortisone shot in my hip and then I had severe weakness, not to wait around but to get to an emergency room right away.
The only suggestion that I would make, as I've had them done a few years after the bad one and I've never had any problems since that. I would just make sure a Dr. does it and no one else. I have nothing against PA's, I have some great one's, but I've never had an issue with a cortisone shot in my hip since then and they were done by doctors. I wish you the best of luck.
