Is anyone worried about daily taking of co-codamol? I I have Hypermobility Syndrome and take 4 to 6 a day for chronic pain. Up until now my main concern has been the addictive nature of the Codine . However I have been reading about new trial results re the long term use of Paracetamol and links to strokes/heart attacks. I know the trials did not take in to account some pre-existing underlying conditions but still worrying....

Paracetamol/strokes?
It’s not a worry for me because if it helps to rid myself of pain, then yes they are good. There was another side to them, lol, that when I took the max daily dose, I never had a cold or flue lol but that was a few years ago lol.

I have no more concerns on taking that than I do any other medication. All medication comes with side effects and it’s a matter of balancing the good against the bad. In most meds for me the benefit out weighs the possibility of side effects.
I suppose that's the best way to look at it. I remember the Dr did say that exact thing once.. I think I would rather live a shorter pain free life..thanks
I don't mean that in a depressing sense! I mean, it's worth the risk to be pain free. And I can do other things to ward of strokes etc diet, exercise!
Diet also helps with pain. Look up Functional Medicine on YouTube.
I hate painkillers and the side affects, I also find they make me constipated badly so now I don't take any painkillers, I use heat treatment and force myself to exercise, walking dogs etc.. I understand that sometimes it is necessary for people to take painkillers, but I've mastered the art and don't take any, it's not easy, but constipation pain is very nasty . Good luck to you .
I would be more worried about the effects on your kidneys than your heart, but 4-6 a day is nothing. I used to take up to 10 a day, that was for almost 20 years, now on Oxycodone. I have annual health checks, BP, goods are always normal, so I would; t worry. There are always "warnings" on regular medications, I think it's mainly to get people to cut down!
Never take more than you’re told to with anything containing paracetamol. It’s an over the counter medicine so there’s a tendency to think it’s pretty safe, but large quantities over time risk severe liver damage. You have to weigh up the pros and cons of any pain killer taken long term. If you need it you need it. I take long term pain medication. I’m not happy about the inevitable side effects and possible damage to my body but I’m between a rock and a hard place as I have severe Cervical Spondylosis. It’s really up to you to decide whether or not you can cut back on your dose , or whether you can’t possibly manage without it. A tough one.
my mother took cocodamol for 46 years 8 every day and she lived till she was 96 and it was a chest infection that took her
