There have been studies done with assorted results.

The best person to speak with is your GP and he will recommend an alternative if he thinks you take too many or over a prolonged period.

Agree that this is something to discuss with your GP. F you are needing regular pain relief then there are alternatives, but mist would need a prescription. Main risk for paracetamol is to your liver. The risk gets much higher if you take more than the recommended doses in any day. There is also now some concern about long term regular use within guideline daily amounts causing liver damage.

This leads to the question are you now addicted to paracetamol? You can get addicted to any medication that you take on a regular basis. Stop taking that regular meditation and you get withdrawal effects. Changing medication will not change the withdrawal problem. You need to reduce the paracetamol by stages. By how much is outside my knowledge.

Why do you have the pain? Can you reduce the problem by better posture or muscle usage?

Just something to think about as you plan your next stage of action.

Hope this helps.

Hi Nikki the best medication that I have started to use is SOLPADOL 30MG/500MG EFFERVESCENT TABLETS because these tablets seem a lot stronger than the 'normal' Paracetamol which to me does not help the headache no matter if you take them every 4 to 8 hours and they do not help me with pain where has the Solpadol does and I also rub DEEP RELIEF IBUPROFEN AND LEVOMENTHOL Gel all over my body especially where there is severe pain which I suffer with and that is my neck, shoulders, wrist and back. When I have headaches/migraines it is usually because my neck is really hurting me. The good news is that you can get both these medications on prescription from your Doctor. I hope that you find a suitable medication for you but I would try what I have suggested because my friend advised me too and it really does help me with my headaches and pain in my body. All the very best take care Lillian :)

Yes

It will cause some problems like anything else we take. Paracetamol taken in small doses over a long period is ok, although if you take a high dose it will irritate the tummy lining. It can also affect the blood. There are also several other affects although the medical profession looks upon this medication as very useful.

If you need pain medications on a regular basis Paracetamol mixes can be purchased, although sometimes constipation may be a problem. So it may be a good idea if you are suffering a persistent pain too see your GP, this may help prevent to many contraindications
