I am interested in pain and ways that I can relieve mine. It is a shame that so many people have to suffer with it. Hello to all.

Welcome on board.

Many of us find ways to manage our pain with alternative therapy, pacing and a few drugs. It should never stop you leading a full life albeit different from what you planned.

Hi Bananas5, yes very true. Pacing does seem to help and just started back on 10mg Amitriptyline, so hopefully this will take the edge off x

What is pacing? Is the Amitriptyline helping? I have been prescribed the same but haven't taken it yet due to my osteoporosis.

Hi, the Amitriptyline does help with sleep and pain, but does make me tired for a while during the day. Pacing is basically not doing too much on a good day so that you have a crash and just taking everything much more moderately.

Pacing is learning to not push into the pain before you stop. If you get sore after doing something for 20minutes, then do it for 15 minutes and stop, rest and do another 15 minutes after a break. Teach the chronic pain response that the activity doesn't necessarily mean pain happens.
