The doc diagnosed me with hip bursitis but I'm also having symptoms of sciatica from back surgery years ago, this condition is very painful.... I'm really needing a good prognosis, although I am a retired RN, I Specialized in hearts and no swat about bones/joint problems.
I'm new here: The doc diagnosed me with hip... - Pain Concern

Welcome on board nurse1946.
You will get support, advice, virtual hugs but no diagnosis or prognosis. We can only use our wealth of experience in an advisory capacity. But don't be put off. Advice comes free and by the bucketful!
My GP thought I had burcitis but no...hip just worn out.
Presumably you are on pain meds? And have you had a referral to a pain clinic?
Pat x
Welcome. I was the same as Paton GP thought it could be bursitis but mine was the same hip osteo arthritis. If this pain carries on it is worth going back and asking for a referral to say a physio as I did. Physio insisted on Xrays before taking the referral and that showed the hip arthritis.
Yes coupled with sciatica which is another type of pain entirely you probably feel as though you are having a double whammy of everything. I do find that the exercises the physio gave me (did have to drop a couple as they made things worse) have made me more flexible. However much pain I am in I do try to do some stretching exercises to keep myself mobile. I honestly could not manage without the painkillers and Pregablin for the neuropathic pain I experience.
I do hope that you find some sort of solution.x
Hi nurse1946.
I am currently having treatment for a bursa in my groin, I have arthritis in my hip & serous spine trouble.
My bursa is in my groin , I have just had it injected so early days yet, my bursa is the size of an apple & in my groin.if u have a bursa get it ultra scanned, & ask for an injection to relieve some pain.x
Hi Tash1971, I'll tell you this pain is giving me the blues Saw the Ortho this AM, he gave me a injection into the bursa of my left hip... I'm still shaking my head Tash because I was expecting a little more in a way.... I noted the needle and syringe size and I barely felt anything... I mean he was giving me a injection into the bursa... the sac around the greater trochanter bone in the socket... I'm thinking he would use a special instrument or something to make sure he was giving it between the bones, but ??? I guess we shall see... it's been about 2 hours and I feel no relief from my pain so far I'm going to give it the rest of the day.
Hi nurse1946
Neuropathic pain, hip bursitis...
Read difficulty-swallowing.com/ and see if anything rings a bell. Read 'My story' on that link
I know sciatic pain very well, and I know it isn't always as simple as a vitamin deficiency, particularly after back surgery. But still, no harm in looking...
All the best.
