Hi

I have trigeminal neuralgia as a side effect of my behcets.

I have suffered anxiety terribly with heavy mood swings before and after steroid infusions.

My question is that these have settled since taking lamotrigine.

This is a drug commonly used for bipolar.

Is there a link?

Thanks

C

Sometimes if we suffer illness we can suffer from a Reactive Depression where you MAY get some relief from AD Medications or similar

I suffer PsA and I suffer associated Anxiety and Depression. When you consider not been well, having a chronic condition, this is not unusual. Your GP may consider mental health concerns are part of who you are and you need treatment to control your problems.

Steroids can have some adverse side affects, you can gain more information here on site or NHS CHOICES. You will need to give your medication time to work, allow upwards of five weeks to get those ducks in a row, if not already
