I’m currently on 30 mcg/hr butec patch. I’m having a lot of baseline pain so need an increase. I’m actually taking an additional 4 Sevredol tablets per day to control my pain. My gp is advising I switch to fetanyl patches.
Any advice?
Anybody made this change or on these patches, your input would be most appreciated.
Thanks

I had a very bad time on Fentanyl but others have no problems. For me the side effects were intolerable. They are highly addictive though just like all opiates.
The Butrans patches did not work for me, they didn't even attempt to control my pain. I was given an additional med for breakthrough pain as well and it still didn't help.
I now take Belbuca, it's a patch put inside the mouth, (cheek area) of 450mcg that seems to help much more than the patch and it's taken every 12 hrs. I think the lowest dose of it is 150 but I tried the 300, no luck, moved up to 450 and it was taking the edge off my pain.
I recently feel like I have another herniated disc and went for MRI and all of that this week. It's causing pain on 1 side and down my leg just like my others have.
My GP did recommend Fentanyl for me but my pain mgmt Drs prefer to do these others first. If I do any sort of sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, etc, then it doesn't work at all.
I hope they can get you on something that will help you. I know several people who have Fentanyl and say it helps them tremendously.
