Does anyone feel like they are just waiting for their minds to crack under all pressure the pain creates in your mind?
My mind under pressure!: Does anyone feel like... - Pain Concern
My mind under pressure!
Pain does not cause pressure. The person with the pain creates the pressure. There is a skill set to deal with pain. This unfortunately can only be learnt by experience.
I wish I could say more, but unfortunately I do not know where you are in the learning to deal with pain and how long you have had pain for. What is appropriate for me to say to a pain veteran of five years experience is not appropriate to say to someone who has been in pain for a week or two.
I've been in pain for 6 years.
Thanks for the reply. I guessing you done the bereavement bit and come out the otherside. I presume that you are in the total knacked bit because you have burnt up all the resources you had and worn out many of your old friends.
You are at the re-building stage.
Let me know if I have got it about right or wrong. I have a few ideas that may or may not be helpful from my own exhaustion memories from this stage.
I think what the poster is trying to say Johnsmith is that chronic pain can cause stress as it doesn't let up and there is feeling that we will have to live our lives permenantly with it. It affects. Home life, work life relationships with others. It can be very isolating and therefore takes a toll on ones mental health.
Actually, with the right approach chronic pain can be a variable. It does take a toll. This is why one needs to develop techniques strategies to handle it. This involves self study. It involves experimentation. It involves finding other people who are prepared to spend their time sharing their wisdom gained through painful experience.
Agreeing about the isolation and mental health problems and then remaining there does not move one forward in developing strategy to improve mental health and reducing the stress of isolation.
It is about learning to adapt to the "what is" instead of allowing the "what is" to bury you. The problem is that everyone starts from knowing nothing and then slowly finding there are things that one can do to help oneself. It is taking the courage to learn to crawl again.
Yes!
I totally understand what you mean, living with chronic pain is hard work! Big hugs to you xx
Hello Jellybean,
Pain does affect the mind. I wish doctors would realise this and keep your pain level under control so that you can still function. Western Medicine does not seem to have much to offer, and with the nhs on a cost cutting mission if anyone does have pain medication it is like a miraculous event. Pain management consultants are equally as thrifty. Have you considered "rethink and Mind" organisations? I know some people with physical problems go to these organisations because the illnesses, pain and stress of life can find they are of some help. Having people around you sometimes help. Why don't you knock on the door of your GP, write to the nhs England, write to to the Practice Manager, write to your MP. Why are you suffering so much, it is ethically wrong. Perhaps there needs to be more tests?
