What meds please help
Sorry I suffer with fibro and osteoarthritis in both knees thanks
Asks your doctor to order your dose in 100mg capsules.
Lower your dose by opening one capsule and tapping it down to half then put the cap back on. Therefore lowering your dose my 50mg til you adjust. 3-7 days until lowering it another 50mg. Continue as you can tolerate.
If sleep is affected Chinese herbs may help you to sleep.
Sorry I think I misread your question and answered it to help you lower gabapentin but it sounds like you did that.
Hi there, over the years I have tried just about everything and now what I class as my main one is Dihydrocodein 120mg twice a day they are a slow release tablet which is good for people like me who tend to forget to take them during the day I take one as I get up and one as i go to bed they reduce the amount of pain I feel I don't think any pain relief gets rid of 100% one thing I was told by a doctor is no matter what you are taking is that if you also take Paracetamol they help increase how the other pain meds work so when the pain gets a little to high just take a couple don't take them all of the time as your body will get use to them and then you will not feel any difference and will require something else I am on :-
Dihydrocodein 120mg twice a day.
Nefopam 30mg 2 X 3 times a day.
Pregabalin 50mg twice a day.
Paracetamol 500mg 2 x 4 times a day.
Amitriptyline 50mg 2 once a day at night.
Morphine sulphate as and when required.
Naproxen 500 mg one twice a day.
Omeprazole 20 mg one per day
the Omeprazole is to help protect your stomach acid building up to much for me I went through a period of being sick during the night but once I started taking these it almost stopped completely.
good luck finding something that works for you, almost forgot to say I suffer from a broken back in three places which started off arthritis in most of my joints some days I think myself lucky if I can manage to get out of bed on my own.
Regards Poppy Ann.
I tried the patches but when the weather was very hot it seemed like it all came at once and on a few occasions I ended up blistered under the patch, I also came off gabbapentin carried on with Zomorph, Oramorph, Pregabalin among the many others I take ( spine fracture that has developed into "Degenerative Spinal Disease") again among other disabling illnesses Diverticulitis, Chrones, Osteoarthritis ,rhumatism, PTSD, had a stroke at home then another whilst having a check up a month later! I also take Diazepam before I go out as I have pretty bad panic attacks! Have you tried Pregabalin? Or Oramorph? They help a lot better than the fenatyl patches! At least for me they do, remember medication's affect different people in different ways!
Hi... My thoughts about Fenatyl is that it's an opioid, so one can become dependant on it and depending on the dose is stronger than morphine. I guess it depends on the amount of pain you are in as what's best for you. I don't have fibromyalgia per say, but was often in pain, but I do have osteoarthritis, and my joints and muscles become inflamed and often have bursitis....I rarely take prescription drugs now as they make me feel foggy., so I end up feeling worse.
I live on m y own and decided I wasn't ready to curl up and die yet.. I got so fed up with living like it.
As a result, I changed my diet. It's based on an alkaline diet. Lots of vegetable, some fruits, lots of fish, some meat, so I rarely have processed foods, sugar, bread, etc. I do sometimes have grains, but they are wholegrains for fibre. I can honestly say I feel so much better for it.
Don't get me wrong, I do have a treat now and again, but that's exactly what it is... a treat . I take extra vitamins, like B12, D3 and K2... glucosamine & chrondroitin, Cod liver oil, CQ10... they are all supposed to help.
I now try to do some kind of exercise everyday... Mainly stretching and use bands and light weights. I walk when I can and swim once a week... apart from helping to strengthen the muscles and taking the strain off of the joints, I find it lifts my mood.
More recently I've started to take hyaluronic acid for my joints as I can't afford the injections , it's early days on that so only time will tell.
It's worth a try to see if making some changes will help to alleviate some of your symptoms, before you go down the road of opioids.
Take care
Hi I take fentanyl as well as gabapentin and tramadol(for breakthrough pain) and paracetamol and I think that I must be one of the lucky ones as I have no ill effects. My doctor suggested this as my previous gp who retired, had me on 8 different pain medication a day. This was for osteoarthritis of my knees. I now have osteoarthritis in my spine and hands as well as lipoedema and lymphoedema in my lower limbs
All I would say is what have you got to lose by trying.
Doctor has put me back on amytripline and co codermol amytripline 2 a night instead of 1 thankyou for your helpful comments every one x
Have you tried CBDOil? It’s helping people get off meds. It’s helped me tremendously with BMS. I’ve been eating over the counter pain meds like they are candy. Doctor prescribed I try to only take at my worst pain level. With the CBD oil I don’t take anything anymore! Just make sure you get a pure oil!! No fillers, and not bleached. Make sure they use the whole plant minus the thc. I love love love my oil!!!
