Research into benefit of hip arthroscopy
Going for my son’s results tomorrow. I’ll let you know!
Oh thanks and best of luck for your son!
It was a painful procedure (2 1/2 weeks ago) but did reveal a cam lesion instead of a labral tear. Headed to see specialized hip surgeon 2 hours away next to discuss reconstruction :(.
So despite all the mixed messages about whether the dye will give a better picture or not, In our case it really did.
I will say the needles for the dye injection were quite painful, not just uncomfortable, but painful. Possibly, since you are an adult and not a 16 yr old male athlete you will receive pain medication (I would demand some mild sedative beforehand and good pain relief during the proceedure!)
Good luck!!!
Hi there. I've had two hip arthroscopys in two years at age 28/29. I feel that the first op was beneficial but a very long recovery as the had to do a microfracture on my hip joint. The other hip op was more straight forward but not much pain relief sadly! Good luck!
I had a hip arthroscopy five days ago. They were going to do a bursectomy but found a large labral tear so repaired that too. Without arthroscopy they wouldn’t have found that as doctors wouldn’t perform scans etc. Recovery is quite painful and think it will be a while before I’m back to normal. Will be worth it if it stops the daily agony!!
