I had a knee arthroscopy on Monday. What have people’s experiences been with this procedure?
Arthroscopy: I had a knee arthroscopy on Monday... - Pain Concern
Arthroscopy
I’ve had many over the years never really helped I’m 61 now and had to fight to get my knee replacement had it done in July brilliant
Thank you Deejojo for your response. How many Arthroscopys have you had? I didn't think I would be so immobile as I am. It was difficult to find out how I would be following the procedure. I only hope it's worth it.
Hi I’ve had about 6 altogether on both knees just keep it elevated and cold for the swelling what did they do ????
I've had 4 on my right knee to repair and remove damaged cartilage, as well as an ACL reconstruction. The outcome 15 years later is arthritis, and I'm only 46. Pain management from now on.
Thanks Wacko073
I’m surprised at the number of arthroscopys doctors are prepared to carry out on one patient.
A word of warning... try to avoid opioids, it took me three years to come off Tramadol ... an horrendous experience.
Thanks again, Wacko073, for replying.
I've had two, one on each knee. Twenty years ago, been in pain ever since. Seeing a surgeon in a couple of weeks with a view to replacement knees. Strange thing is I have been on naproxen for a number of months for my spinal stenosis in my neck, and my knees have been much less painful, so much so I am wondering if I could get away with keeping them. My left knee has a baker's cyst on the back, which I drain by hypodermic needle once a week which helps mobility and painwise. The right was always the least painful, but ATM it is the most painful.
I have had the same procedure... A few years ago... I was lucky that I went to the Nuffield Hospital but 6 weeks later when I went back the surgeon told me that it hadn't really done anything? I suppose that everyone is different and I hope yours works out well I have the same pain in my other knee now (left) so not sure what I will do but I wish you well and hope its all fine
I had knee scope June last year and I'm just now able to walk properly unfortunately for me the simple procedure cause my psoriatic arthritis to flare bad.
I had a great experience on my left knee,n never had a problem since. After care is most important to ur healing,so elevate the leg, ice,n when they tell u to start moving it..def do it.Scar tissue is ur enemy.Best of luck to u.
I had one several years ago, it didn't help me at all, I actually felt it aggravated the arthritis. I have now had two knee replacements which has helped with pain😊👍 although I know some people who have had arthoscopy and it helped them tremendously.
Thank you for your response. I suppose only time will tell.
