If you have been using them for 4 yrs unlikely.

Have you had a blood test recently? Could be a deficiency or too much of something. If that makes sense!

Ask you GP for one.

It depends on why you're taking it. If it's not as effective it could be tolerance or perhaps the underlying pain has got worse.

Either way you should go back to whoever prescribed it in the first place.

Good luck.

I too have been on the Butrans patches for quite a few years now.

I get periods of being so tired and sleepy to the point of trying to sleep it off but I could sleep 18 hrs a day and still feel exhausted, so thats no good for anybody.

For the past two or three years around this time of the year I have had lots of associated blood tests due to me being so tired.... to no avail.

A few years ago I was given the B12 tablets which I still continue with, but i still feel exhausted in the mornings when i wake up.

My tiredness I feel is a side effect of the associated long term pain/depression.

Getting up early ish in the morning and trying to occupy yourself, what ever you do seems to get me back into a routine.

Not that i follow my own advice......... 🤔

While I'm talking about the Butrans patches.... does anyone else who uses them ever find that some weeks they just don't seem to work at all?

Steve.

Hi, I have the same problem with Butrans as you this is when I take Oromorph for the break through pain. It seems to help. It's quite a coincidence that I also feel absolutely exhausted atm, I blame it on not going abroad in September as each year after I have been in high temperatures my pain diminishes remarkably for quite a few months. I thought it was just me but my consultant rheumatologist tells me that it is a medical fact as vitamin D plays a vital part in the immune system as well as many other parts of the body. I also think that with long term disabilities our mood is low and this worsens in the winter months due to lack of sunlight.

Hi Karma. I did used to be on BuTrans patches and then moved to TransTec. I did go through periods where I would be absolutely exhausted and would be unable to function. I used to find as the week wore on, my patch would start to lose effectiveness and strangely my fatigue would be much worse. So pain doctor got me to change the patches every 3 days instead of every week. This really did help me.

I've been using butrans for a while aswell..I don't see how they would just start making you feel that way after 4 years.. i however do feel more tired etc due to the time of year and of course the struggle of living with constant pain.. maybe you could be suffering wih sad/depression?
