Well depending on your age and whether you are resting the ankle will dictate how long it takes.

x

Did you have it examined by a doctor and xrayed? This is really the only way to find out what injury was caused, how to treat it and how long it will take to get better.

RICE.

Rest

Ice

Compression

Elevation.

I didn't look after my ankle 40 years ago-- still giving me trouble.

Moral ---- Look after it. 😓

Hi I agree totally with Madlegs1. If you can walk on it and it doesn't give you loads of pain then it isn't broken or anything.

I have fairly weak ankles and have lost count of the times I have twisted one either through a fall or a slip. Do RICE and this will help it to heal faster. A couple of mine have still been swollen up to 12 weeks later so have patience. x

Hello hypercat54,

I can walk on it,its not 100%but i can feel it is getting better,i haven't really had any pain,

I think I'm so impatient ,i like to be on the go,but i will do the sensible thing and look after it,

Thankyou x

Good. If it's not giving you any pain then you don't need to slow down. The swelling will go in the end but just when you are watching telly or are online do the RICE procedure. This will help drain the fluid from it. I don't think not doing so would result in any permanent problems - at least it hasn't with mine. x

If its a minor pain then it will heal soon but if the pain is really hurting you then consult your doctor about it and ask about tramadol pain relief medication for your pains.Tramadol really works well on such pains.

They say that a sprain will take longer to heal than a broken bone sometimes. As long as it is getting better, then you are fine. It will take a few months at least to be 'normal', depending on how much damage was done to the ligaments and tendons. There are loads of ligaments that hold together the main bones in the ankle, and they can take a while to heal.

Hello

JUST to let you all know i went for an x ray today , it is just soft tissue damage, and i had a small fracture on the side of my foot, however this has repaired itself,

The nurse is sending the results to a virtual fracture clinic, but doesnt think i will hear back from them

Thanks everyone for your help
