Did you get it when it was damp, have you put heat on it I use my heating pad a lot and that usually helps and have you taken anything ibuprofen works for me but don’t take it on an empty stomach. I had a pain in my right side, by my ribs. It took 2-3 weeks before it went away. I hope you feel better.

Hi Jose

May I ask why you can't take Ibuprofen?

Are you able to use a little of the topical ibuprofen gel instead?

Care is needed with Cocodamol as they can become addictive. Are only really suitable for short term acute pain relief.

Also as codeine stops bowel movements, causes constipation and dry stools it is necessary to drink lots of water and take Lactulose medicine and maybe also Fybogels whilst taking codeine. I can never understand why doctors don't automatically prescribe Lactulose when they presrcribe cocodamol.

Also:

Put a towel in tumble dryer for 5 - 10 mins or so. Wrap around neck and shoulders, get comfy on settee or in armchair, support left arm on pillow across lap. Close eyes and relax. xx

I too use my heat pad for any ache's and Ibuproven. If it doesn't improve I guess seeing your GP would be the next step.

Yes, always see GP with a new pain/symptom. An xray would confirm /eliminate arthritis. capsulitis/Pericapsulitis isn't found in xray, mine was diagnosed in A&E by Consultant (but that was a long time ago).

Last year I started sleeping on my right side because my arhritis in hips is worse in left one also have a 'raised calcification on left femoral head'. (Actually, learned since that we should never sleep on right side) Had to see GP with severe pain in Right shoulder, he said to sleep on leftside. Xray showed Arthritis.

The pain caused sleep depravation so I tried my Amytryptiline, very reluctantly, and got some sleep. Strangely, while taking it, I was wakened by pain in right knee at 3am! I don't take pain meds regularly. xx

Not alot more than codeine you can take until you find out what the cause is.. I had shoulder pain for a while year then finally found out the cause. Which was my neck. Doctor will just provide you with pain relief and fob you off. X

I have recurrent shoulder pain leading to arm spasms. Best thing is see a doctor who specializes in bones. I went to a doctor who called it shoulder impingement syndrome. He said he could do an expensive operation putting a cushion wedge in my shoulder joint. Other doctors called it differing things. A bone doctor and an MRI is the two best things to have first

I would get other doctors to look at it before you have surgery because they may have a different point of view. You don’t want to jumpd into a situation and then find out it was something else.
