Hello

I haven't had it done, but in my previous job as a radiographer, I was in theatre when they were doing this.

Basically, they get you to lie on your front and the doctor then uses needles (very similar to those used in acupuncture) to make contact with your nerves. They then send an impulse down the needle to see if it is a nerve that is painful for you. If it is, they then inject some anaesthetic down the needle & then use the radio frequency to 'kill' the nerve off. Therefore, the nerve will no longer send impulses, reducing your pain (in theory).

I have heard that it does help some people, but then it might not help others. As with everything, we're all different & so there may be different outcomes.

I don't know if that's helped at all, but do let me know if you need any other info.

Sending spoons x

Hi mildly bean

I have had Radiofrequency Abalation three times now and am waiting for it again as have severe leg nerve pain!. It's been really helpful, making me painfree for one to two months!. Each time I've had it it's given me longer and tablets don't give me same relief!. You might get back ache afterwards as I do for a few days and then it all settles. Good luck for the 16 th and I hope it really helps you. Best thing I've done for my pain. Ask me anything you want about it. X

thank you so much. very helpful.

However, when it rains it pours. I broke my knee last night from walking. I'm not even 40 yet and the body is acting like it is 90.

My Orthopod said I need to push it off until. December.

The knee has a tiny bit of unbroken bone. (Fracture) .the next 3 weeks are important. If it mends I avoid surgery. If it compleats the break I get screws.

Hope it heals and I can go on.

Again thank and take care.

Hi mildly bean

What an awful thing to happen, breaking your knee just walking!. So sorry the Radiofrequency has to be delayed now. Really tough for you. Do hope the knee heals as it should, must be really painful!. I broke my foot just walking a few months ago. It's scary what can happen!. I just wonder about your bone density so hope you get a Dexa scan from this!. I've got mild osteoporosis which is partly why I did mine. All the best. x

I feel better just knowing that I am not the only "Special" person. That walking and breaking is a thing.

I have not had the bone scan yet. will be seeing my GP the 6th. It will be a topic. I know I have Degn. Disk Des. (DDD) & Anky. Spond (AS) There is a myriad of issues with the body It is a vicious cycle. It is nice to know that I can come here and find like people. It helps that I can get suggestions of things. The Drs are used to one flavor of cookies. And I'm not that flavor.

Thank you for the thoughts.

Oh goodness - breaking your knee just from walking? Wow, talk about unlucky!! I hope it mends well for you, because knee surgery is no fun 😳

Thank you for your well wishes - sending more spoons and some cotton wool to wrap you up in 🙄 Please take care & might be worth asking your docs for a vitamin D blood test, if you haven't had one in the last few months.

I am on it already. Both knees are bone on bone and covered in Arther. I have a slew of issues and I just have to deal with the most Painful one at the moment.

I have had to move back in with parents due to my body.

However, I have to walk through it as gracefully as possible and know someday I will be all better.

:)
