Feeling positive

Well I actually did something I usually put off and went to the doctors and I'm so pleased I did, I normally don't go unless I'm dying as I put it off as I seem to spend half my life going to hospital appointments etc, but I've been really struggling lately not just with the pain and other arthritis related problems but also with severe insomnia and the combination of the 2 conditions have taken their toll and I've felt extremely low of late and really emotional, the doctor prescribed me 2 wks worth of zopiclone and sertraline and I feel so much better already, it's amazing how good it feels to have a few good nights sleep after years of only having 2-4 hrs a night, I've found it much easier to handle my arthritis pain and symptoms after having at least 6 hrs sleep a night, and for the first time in months I haven't been in tears, can't remember the last time I felt this happy 😊

Hi

So glad to hear that you have had a few good nights sleep and that you feel much better for it. I've gone through phases of insomnia and know just how you feel. I also took zopiclone and I still take sertraline.

Yes, i remember the feeling when I eventually slept through the night, feeling so happy and telling everyone "I actually slept all night last night" and them looking at me as if I was bonkers!!!

Hope it continues.

I know what you mean but people who have never suffered from insomnia have no idea how amazing it is to have even a single descent nights sleep 😊❀️

Oh I get that too. I fortunately don't suffer with much physical pain but do suffer from depression which causes chronic insomnia. Occasionally like the past week I do sleep really well and I am feeling amazing myself the past few days. Isn't it wonderful to get good quality sleep? It makes a world of difference x

Goodstuff. Long may it continue quetiapine is my godsend sleepwise. Happy days πŸ’œ

Unfortunately only work for first couple of nights but I have another appointment with the doctor again next week xx

Hope u get on ok at dox. Zopiclone really is only prescribed for 2 weeks due to dependence on it and the body very quickly needs more and more. Quetiapine has been the only med thats ever knocked me out at night and it can only be prescribed by a psychiatrist πŸ’œ best wishes

Yeah I was aware of the down side of zopiclone my doctor only prescribed enough for 14 days anyway, they help a bit but still only slept for 3-5 hrs even with them, I will discuss an alternative when I next see him, thanks for your concern and advice xx

Good for you and also your doctor supplying a sleeping tablet, and whilst thats not a cure amazing how much you feel '"better" after some quality sleep, saying that the amount of hours my cat sleeps it should be the fittest animal on the planet lol, but joking apart sleep deprecation is like is a form of torture (not a word I like I may add) and getting your sleeping patterns in to regular shifts will be a big difference to your life and that can only be a good thing, long may you sleep easier and sweet dreams for now, ttfn

What a shame, I know what pain is like, I to have a body that gets disturbed sleep, and now having to resort to sleeping during the day, a right old man's habit and I'm only in my mid fifties! And have various complaints, and sometimes I think that the doctor does not believe me,just cause your blood pressure is OK that is a green light to say your still alive, well pain is pain, and trying to get it sorted is just not that simple, and I often end up with a shopping list of complaints, goodness knows what I'll be like when I'm older, so try and make the most of your good moments and know doubt your often wondering what's on tv at stupid o'clock,I never thought I'd end up having to watch television in the early hours of the mornings just cause of "pain", unreal, so I sympathise with you, here's hoping for a peaceful night sleep, thanks

Hi

Could they be taken ( with effect) for two nights, once a week or fortnight without becoming addictive and losing effect?

Worth asking GP?

At least it would be good to look forward to getting two good night's sleep every week / fortnight.

Just a thought.

God Bless.

That's what I've been doing anyway as I happy to just get the odd good night πŸ‘πŸ» I think they only become a problem when you take every night for more than 2-4 wks, not just because you can become addicted but they stop having the same effect as your body gets used to them, my doctor only gave me enough for 14 days just to try and get me back into a sleep routine, I don't think he will prescribe them on a regular basis as I'm already taking a lot of strong medications like zapain and gabapentin, he has also prescribed me anti depressants now because I've been feeling quite low for several months now, he's referred me so I can get the help and supply I need, I guess being in constant pain for the past 12 yrs has finally took its toll, but fingers crossed I'll be feeling more like myself soon, thanks for the advice and concern I really appreciate it xx

Hi I know doctors are very reluctant to prescribe sleeping pills so I don't take those but the ad mirtazapine. I only have a very low dose but it relaxes me enough so I can sleep better. x
