So for maybe a year now I've been having problems with heart palpitations (namely just a really loud, pounding, fast heart whenever I lie down and some other times), shortness of breath and trouble breathing until I manage to get my breathing back on track, some pain in my knees, elbows, and mostly legs that make it hard to pick up things or walk sometimes (the pain comes at random intervals) and a few other symptoms that I think are visible on my profile.
The heart palpitations are most predominant just after I've laid down at night to go to bed, so is the shortness of breath, although both can randomly start during the day. I've always felt like my heartbeat is too strong and 50% of the time it's pounding in my chest. The pain starts at random intervals, and will all of a sudden show up. Sometimes I walk with a limp or can't write or pick up things properly because of this - sometimes my hands get stiff as well, although I suspect this is only because I play several musical instruments, so I'm sure this isn't much to worry about.
It's getting kind of annoying but my mother doesn't seem too worried about it, should I be? I'm fit, within the healthy weight for my age range, and I walk everyday. I have psoriasis and used to do UV treatment before switching to methotrexate (and folate) tablets, but I am off medication now and these symptoms did not appear until after I was off my medication. I hope someone can provide answers
Hi, If you are experiencing heart palpitations, shortness of breath and joint paint, there is a chance it could be that they are linked. I am sorry your mum doesn't want to acknowledge your issues (sometimes it is hard for mums to hear their child is in pain). I have until recently, felt for many years as though I was on my own with my illness as most days I'm fine. I go to the gym, work full time, go out at the weekends etc and have a really healthy diet, but sometimes it just knocks me off my feet without a minutes warning. I don't want to put ideas in your head with names of illnesses, but would urge you to see a doctor if this is an option and talk your concerns through with them. the worst thing on top of feeling ill is the despair of feeling as though you are going through it alone. Good luck.
We would recommend a parent, teacher, older relative. Hopefully someone will help him.
If he hadn't been quite so honest about his Mum it might not have been picked up.

Hey! Now I’m no doctor but this, from what you’ve said and from my own experiences you’ve got something that I do as well. It’s called SVT (Supraventricular tachycardia). I noticed you’re hidden so idek if you will get this but! This sounds like that’s what it could paosibly be. It’s nothing threatening but is something to see the doc over and have confirmed cause then they do have meds to help calm the heart rate and ease the other things that come with it ^-^
And it’s something easy to check too! You just wear a heart monitor for 24hrs and then they check it and then go from there. Hope that helps ease some worries and you can get answers! Don’t stress on it, it’s something manageable and not life threatening long as it’s not severe but that’s what the doc can determine for you!
I hope you do see this, and it can guide you a bit when you go see a doc on it. Good luck!!
I also have been diagnosed with SVT,and take Bisopralol 7.5mg every day with a back up of 2.5mg if I get an attack. However on my last attack the medication did not stop the palpitations!! I then had to go to A & E for an injection of Adenosine in resus....does anyone else have this problem?.
The heart specialist says I must call 999 if the problem lasts more than 20-30 minutes. I am 74
Help could you be having anxiety, have you asked a Dr I,m not a Dr but they may be able to tell you something. Let me know I,'ll worry that's what I do best. susiejo1948
