Anyone taking these 2 nasties and does it affect orgasm. Sorry to ask. I have had CFS/Fibro for 8 years, and taken these. I had at one point reduced them to 200mg each a day, and was on 800mg both a day and it came back but had to increase both tablets. Pregabalin is so nasty with side effects. I hate them they work for pain but I feel addictive as well. I am new to this site so sorry if I am asking when already discussed. They effect orgasm and I want to know if anyone managed to get over this problem. Have a good day everyone.

It was an awfull med for me, made my forget where i was the first time i took it, lucky for me a neighbour called, and realised something wasnt right, so she got my doctor out to see me. No more of it for me. But, i do know people who its helped a lot, so as usual, its try it for yourself, and hopefully it will be the med that suits you, good luck either way .
Pregabalin best described as the goblin in the wood pile.
Nasty stopped after 2 weeks, only used as substitute while Pharmaceutical companies decided who was going to make the missing from the shelves (ropinirole 1 mg dosage) , All to good cause as MD re-issued ropinirole at 2 mg tabs saved a lot of pills rolling around the floor. Can't remember how many times I paid homage to gravity with those little blighters.
It took a while for pregabalin to settle - but has worked fine for me (whereas the previous Gabapentin - did not), so it is down to what suits you. I take it with Naproxen.
I wonder ... are you taking both Pregabalin + Carbamazepine together because I think they can have severe side effects if you do.
With regards to orgasms - pregabalin calms over-stimulated nerve cells and orgasms are rhythmic muscular contractions controlled by the nervous system, so the likelihood is that you/your partner would have to put more work into you having one. Maybe with the use of some stimulating accessories..
However, that said - I am able to have them and try to, as often as possible - it seems to be a better pain relief than the medication : )
And yes pregabalin is addictive and you would need to reduce or come off them slowly and under docs supervision.
If you can't get around it - maybe a complete overhaul of your meds should be discussed with your doctor.
Pregabalin definitely didn't suit me. Made me feel suicidal. Had to come off it but it wasn't helping with the pain anyway. No idea what effect it may have had on orgasms as was feeling too ghastly to want to try! Sorry I can't help, but hope you have better luck.
I have really bad side effects, i loose the ability to function or enjoy or care about anything, I can still feel my pain it just makes me numb and care s little less about it. Can't take them all the time side effects are just too bad, even tho the doctor said these should be fine with these! it took me to the point of breaking down and crying for the doctor to prescibe amitriptyline again so I could actually get some sleep. I hope you find some pain releif that will help 🙂
I took Pregabalin 50 mg for a few weeks in 2011 but stopped because of the side effects and the fact that it only gave a small reduction in pain. The main side effects were feeling a little wobbly on my feet and finding it harder to concentrate on things I was doing. I don’t remember having any sexual problems though.
I tried Carbomazepine for 2 weeks, but from Day 1 I felt poisoned: just ill all over, aching, nauseous, too hot/cold at the same time, etc. and that feeling persisted for several days after I stopped taking it. I do get a bunch of side effects from Pregabalin (150mg twice/day), but much more subtle and I have grown used to living with them: when I get up from sitting I feel taller than I am, not actually dizzy, but unsteady on my feet, it also affects my vision so the ground seems further away; plus at medium distance, say 40-50m, when things are coming towards me I sorta can't tell exactly how far away they are, it's weird and only lasts milliseconds, but I would not trust myself to drive; unless I look I cannot tell the difference between hot, cold, and pain in my extremeties, but that probably also has to do with why I take them, i.e. Peripheral Neuropathy.
I haven't noticed any effect on my orgasms from Pregabalin, but then again I also take Morphine and have very little libido. I was too ill to even think about sex during my Carbomazepine poisoning...
Thank you everyone for your replies. I know I really need to get off of these tablets, but I think pain relief must come first, plus I am up and down with the dose when I work, so been to Drs and I am on a very slow 25mg reduction over a month at a time ( as I have been on them for so long) so hopefully that will help. I found a website and there are pages of people on the same problem, basically ......No 'O'... its got to go!!! Thank you again everyone.
