hi I dislocated my knee cap 6 weeks ago. Although the pain has subsided my knee feels like jelly and feels like it could give way. Normally very active person so frustrated.
Kneecap feels like jelly: hi I dislocated my... - Pain Concern
Kneecap feels like jelly
What has your GP said or done? Have you seen anyone at hospital? Orthopaedics? Any xray or MRI scan?
hiya yeah been to see consultant at orthopaedics an he said to get back to the gym this was after 1 week of it happening but still very tender. Xray showed no break. No referral for MRI?
So have you contacted Orthopaedics to update? If you are not confident in gym and it feels like jelly and it could give way I think I would be reporting this to Orthopaedics. Has there been any mention of Physio? You could ask how long it should take to heal also. Have you Googled dislocated kneecap on NHS choices?
This happened 6 weeks ago? You saw Orthopaedics 5 weeks ago? Did Orthopaedics diagnose dislocated knee cap? Did they say how long it would take to heal? How did they treat it?
If it is still puffy it probably still has some fluid in the joint that needs draining, there could also be a bit of damage to the cartilage, go back and TELL your GP to get it sorted, this is what you are paying for.
Sounds like you may have torn something. Possibly your ACL, meniscus, or so forth. I tore a tendon on the inside of my left knee, which basically snapped loose and vanished before they found found out (ONE YEAR later!)
Eight dislocations, one cracked kneecap, two arthroscopic procedures and a tibial osteotomy later, I was told I may never walk again without help, bend my knee more than 80 degrees, or straighten it entirely.
I've been walking on it just fine, but it still gives me hell some days.
You need an MRI immediately to make sure you get the treatment you need, or the damage could be permanent!
Sounds like ligament damage. Go back to your GP and request an xray/scan and also physiotherapy.
Good luck x
