Hi all I would really appreciate anybody's experience with cervical nerve blocks. I have 2 herniated discs c5-6 that are playing havoc with the nerves in my left arm. My consultant offered me acdf which I was supposed to have on 28th but after an MDT meeting today they have decided to try a nerve block first. I would like to hear from people that have had this procedure and to know how well they have worked good or bad, thanks Rachel xx
cervical nerve blocks.: Hi all I would really... - Pain Concern
cervical nerve blocks.
Hi there
I've had bi lateral deep nerve root blocks in the lumbar region rather than cervical but goodness me what a difference they make!!! I've had then 3 times now and am currently on the list waiting for my 4th.
I'll be honest, it's a painful procedure - you have to lie as still as you can face down while they guide the needles in under imaging and although you get a local, it only works on your skin and you really feel the needle hit the nerve!!
Its totally worth it though as virtually all of the nerve pain in my legs and feet fades away over the next week and the relief lasts around 6m. My neuro follows up with a phone call after 5 months to see how I'm getting on and either puts me straight back on the list for the next set.
Hope you don't have to wait too long for yours and that you get as good a relief from it!! X
Hi i started with nerve blockers2002 then went on to facet joint injections they worked up until 2009. Then i started with blockers in my neck and all the steroids thats in these injections have made my bones worse wish i hadn't had them all because i feel worse now and nothing they can do. Just try to keep under the limit
They sure do make you want to do the "twist" don't they?
Until..........!
Don't tho caution to the wind.
If that needle goes a weeeeeeny teeeeeeny bit to far- pick up a piece of tissue paper - your screwed for Life with an irreversible Chronic Progressive - Adhesive Arachnoiditis.
Do, do your dilegent research before you let anyone start Jabbing long needles into your spine. No "God Hands" here on Earth.
They are actually called Epidural Steroid Injections.
I've just come across this old post yes they do have epidurals but there is different injections which I was on the facet joint injections and if you speak to a pain specialist they will tell you over the years your muscles start to waste Away because of all the steroids
