Does anyone have experience of having a nerve block (specifically saphenous nerve in the leg)? I have tried most treatments for chronic pain but wondered about the nerve block direct to the troubled nerve.
thanks

I have them every 3 months into my back & they really do work brilliantly. It stops my sciatica in it's tracks & stops the pain that runs down my arms from my neck . I couldn't function hardly till I had these xx
As hzhr, I got one in by back for thigh pain. Worked well for about a year and then the pain returned.I haven't got another one because of COVID waiting lists, but must sort myself out to get another.

I’ve attempted a nerve block and was told that if I hurt within a half hour after, that the nerve block failed. The doctor was hoping for over 70% correction and I was closer to 40%. I go back for a follow up on Thursday March 2nd.
IMHO "nerve block" a fraud! The injection is a combination of a local anaesthetic and a steroid and the medic should state that.
The NHS says it uses open communication with patients - it should be frank and say what it is, not disguise it with false terminology. As an example, there are people who would want to refuse steroids.
thank you for replying
Not sure if it's considered a true nerve block but a had a procedure called RFA (radio frequency ablation) done on the two nerves in my lower back to stop sciatica. My pain doctor used a probe that sent pulses of some electrical frequency to the nerves and it deadens them for up to 9 months.
Thanks. I did try it but it did not work for me. I appreciate your replying.
