Hi. I was also on diclofeniac and baclfen for my back problem. They also didn't work for me. Unfortunately I had a herniated disc which had buldged and was crushing my S1 nerve. The only tablets i found that eased it slightly was Zomorph or oramorph liquid. I have since had surgery to fix the problem so no longer need to take the meds, but I do a lot of exercise to help with the stiffness in the back.

Hope you feel better soon.

Gentle and limited movements. Keep moving but treat your back gently. It will take time to heal. Icing every hour, 15 mins on , 45 off might reduce inflammation. If it's still as bad in a few days then see your own doctor as further tests might be needed. It's a hard thing waiting for a hurt to heal but hopefully it's nothing chronic.

Have had chronic pain for many years ,recently ditched my painkillers as they were no longer working ,decided to go to the local pool which gave me pain relief I just exercise in the water and do arm strength in the gym under supervision and it's working .I now go every morning and able to swim 2 lengths after a month .

Also decided to watch what I eat I have now lost 10 lbs I AM DELIGHTED!😬

Hello, I too have a constant lower back pain with the occasional muscle and nerve spasm and the pain is absolutely unbearable. Painkillers just do not help as my doctor told me again and again.I am on Fentanyl but do want to wean myself off as Fentanyl creates confusion in the head. I do gentle exercises if and when I can and these help just a little but better than nothing. . Each pain is different though. Your one sounds more like an inflamation which probably will settle with care and rest. My problem is beyond inflammation but I do understand what you are going through. From all the replies you will see that back problem is affecting so many people. By exchanging views through this forum it is good to know you are not on your own suffering but that many people understand what you are gong through.

Just know that this is where lower back pain can become so much worse if you rush and make a decision based on a certain doctor's recommendations. Don't become me and wear a Spinal Cord Stimulator just to not feel 100% pain. Don't go on opiates for a decade to mask the pain, don't let a neurosurgeon do a laminectomy on every disc in your lumbar region. Try to work out the pain naturally and ice is still my best friend after years. I have failed back surgery syndrome (after 4 lumbar laminectomies). They suggested a SCS as my solution. It helps but it is definitely not the best choice for a lot of people. The only position that doesn't cause terrible pain is lying down. It can get out of hand quickly.

You have an acute injury, so its treated a bit differently to ongoing chronic back pain. Diclofenac (an antiinflammatory) and baclofen(anti-spasm) are appropriate for this. As others have said, ice over the area can also help, but no more than 15 minutes at a time. Also try to keep moving very gentle movements. If you are still getting severe muscle spasm even with the baclofen, ask your doctor for a different anti-spasm medication. Acute injuries like this usually come right reasonably quickly and you should be able to move much easier fairly soon. If it doesn't come right, then go back to the doctor. If you realise you have a numb bum (particularly loss of feeling in the saddle area), or if you start feeling that you can't empty your bladder properly or control your legs, then it becomes an emergency, so get to hospital (that is fairly rare luckily).
