I have kind of been hoping all week that the painclinic would miraculously call me up to say there had been a cancellation and could I come into the hospital asap!!
Still hoping!!

I've got my fingers crossed for you.
Dunkdi my friend, please do not place too much on the pain clinic because you'll only feel let down, when in the end it is up to you how you manage your own pain, but they can and will give you the tools to help and manage your pain, but it's one constant battle and learning how to cope takes a lot of hard work, but you can manage it once you realise that it is up to you what effort you put in.
Things like distraction and breathing exercises will give you breaks and allow you to think without pain interrupting all your thought's , I don't know your situation and where your pain comes from but there are things that work once you get good pain meds or whatever they decide is best , but be realistic about it, best Alex
Thank you for the advice. I am hoping they can give me the same treatment I had over 10 years ago privately which enabled me to live virtually pain free for over 5 years. However I am aware of the clinic's limitations. Need something though because I am living off Oramorph currently.
Best
Duncan
Hi D, what was it that helped so much before? 👍🏼🍀
Hi. about 10 years ago I saw a pain management doctor privately and he injected my groin with steroids and then did facet joint injections and then he ran some sort of electrical current through my spine (possibly PRF). I lived almost pain free for over 5 years until a car crash messed it all up and the pain came back. I am trying to see if I can have the same treatment at the pain clinic at the RUH in Bath.

I went to the pain clinic and all I asked him to do was to give me a steroid shot so I never knew why I had to do the pee test thing. I don't want the opioids.... they are killing folks everyday and these people are not trying to commit suicide.. another story but I have several herniated disc in my neck and very painful they don't call it a pain in the neck for nothing.... but I noticed while having a asthma attack the doc gave me prednisone and my severe neck pain went away so the pain doc gave me a steroid shot in my hip and the pain stayed away completely for about 3 weeks. See when there is excess fluids in the tissue they expand letting the nerves rub against bone causing pain, steroids pulls the fluids out of the cells, no irritation, no pain.
Dunkdl i hope your wait comes to a end soon theres nothing worse than being in need of hospital treatment and having to wait for it
