I've been referred by my GP to an 'integrated back treatment team'. I'm so pleased. I think they are mostly specialist physios, so I'm optimistic they can help me. But I've stopped all my meds so I can tell them exactly what's happening with me. Sore but hopefully worth it!

Moving on with back treatment
Well I sure hope you have more results with them than I did? They made my back worse! I cryed for weeks until my doctor told me to stop seeing them. He said it works for some but others does nothing! In fact they did nothing that I allready didn't do or think of myself allready ! They made me feel stupid like I didn't even know my own body or pain! And there favourite saying is everything takes time! Also was taken out of the pain clinic by my doctor when they wanted to start shooting sugar/ sucrulose into my spine! My doctor didn't believe me until he phoned and they told him. Yes that's what we want to do! He said no forget it! She is done with you guys!!! So best of luck! But if I was to stop my pain meds I wouldn't even make it to the washroom. So yours must not be as bad as mine? So maybe they can help you! All my luck!!!
Oh and just to let you know if you go in there and tell them you stopped your pain meds to come in there to show them exactly what and where your pain is? They are going to just tell you that it's not that bad. And that you should just stay off of your pain meds all together! Trust me I'm 44 and have been dealing with this for 22 years since I was pushed off a roof and have dealt with many clinics and spent allot of money to just be put on hydrocodone2 tablets 5mg 3 times daily And oxi IR 5mg 1 tablet 4 times daily for break through pain and diazepam for at night time . Just starting to be able to go to the store without pain! It's a start! Lol
But how can I tell them where the pain is if it is masked by medication? The pain has been acute without meds but I reckon it will be worth it for a couple of days so I can answer their questions properly and so they can see my lack of mobility etc.
Am 62 and in lot of pain in my left led waiting to go for mr scan hope some one can help me wiyh pain dolly Pom 29
What is intergrsted back team
May be my GP do not know
Haven't been yet but I'm told it's mainly specialist physios. I think they can refer you for scans etc.
The only people that get a integrated back team treatment are athletes going to winter games or you have to be a PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE! So I'm pretty sure it means either physio/ chiropractor or a pain clinic . Unless the person is a professional athlete? Then they should never be on pain meds period!? Doctors tend to say things just to make it sound good and to get you out of there office and who with bad back pains wouldn't want to hear there seeing a back treatment team???
If you have been on meds for a long time don't stop them reduce them slowly in order to avoid withdrawal symptoms. Specialist physios are just that specialist physios in their particular discipline of one size fits all. Physios pass written exams they do not pass exams on how sensitive their hands are.
To know what is happening with you sensitive hands are needed. This is found in disciplines such as chiropractic, masseurs and Alexander technique teachers to name a few.
So you may be helped or you may not. If they fail search out the other disciplines mentioned above.
Hope this helps.
Please don't let other people's negative experience put a downer on your treatment. I hope it goes well for you. I'd like to hear more about it after you've been. It sounds interesting. Let us know how you get on.
Thanks so much for you encouragement. Will certainly let you know!
