Hi there does anyone find valium helpful for nerve pain or chronic pain? Does anyone find the valium effective with other pain med's
Valium: Hi there does anyone find valium... - Pain Concern
Valium
Its prime use is as an anti depressant.
David used to get it as a jag when having a serious flair up. Worked as a muscle relaxant therefore reducing pain. Certainly knocked him out and he slept.
Seemed to be compatible with his strong prescription meds, Fentanyl, cocodamol etc.
Vet gave it to my Collie who suffered epilepsy and worked as a muscle relaxant too. That was the human med not modified for canine use. It worked though
x
NHS Hospitals regularly used to give 10-20mg of Diazepam as a pre-med up to an hour before wheeling people down to theatre not that many years ago Rib
Yes I use it with my other meds including slow release morphine, I have the 2 ml and 5 ml for when I need something stronger, doesn't seem to affect my ability to drive either have been on the 2 ml for about 4 months
and 5 ml just whilst getting over my nerve block xx
Defenily helps with pain as it relaxes the pain.mood swings. ...haha have to ask my family but im on so other many meds as well, hopefully will get the all clear to start comming of them slowly soon as had spinal injection just over 2 wks ago and feeling so much better . oramorph is good for break through pain too x
Yes it does alla the above. I had it back in 1976 until 1982 but neither the doc at that time realised it was addictive. Took me off suddenly and suffering for years after. It is very addictive. Best used on a as you need to basis. Take medical advice and ask questions.
Mmmmm.... I always like a Valium break. In a flare up, it works wonders but I don't know how anyone would function on it regularly. Baclofen is better for spinal spasm type problems but a lot of people take combinations of different meds for different problems...😜
I have had valium as a relaxant for many years from when i was 17 and am now 63, I only take it when I have to ( like one or two a week ), mainly in the evening if i am in bad pain going to bed, luckily for me I don't and never have become addicted to it over the years, if used properly I would say they are a good drug but abuse them and you will pay for it, i have seen first hand someone addicted to them and the come down is no joke.
I believe they should not be taken with Tramadol, but ask your GP
Read with interest dolly your comments. Can agree 100%. I use mine only when arthritis flares up chronically . I take Oxazepam 5mg, double sometimes but only at night to get some sleep. Saw my dr this morning who has put me on Tramadol as no other pain killers are working! I asked about taking Oxazapam along with them and she said it was absolutely fine....
Yes. I take it when muscles go into spasm. Also have had for years for anxiety. I'm not addicted but you have to be careful.
Yes - I tak a stronger version - clonazepam. It helps enormously with muscle spasm and neuropathic pain. I also take tramadol and have had no ill effects. Hope 1 of the benzodiazepine "family" improves things for you.
Hi Bunce, "Yes, and Yes!!"
Re: your question about valium which as I'm sure you know that like diazepam it is a "Very Addictive" benzodiazepine developed as an anti-anxietydrug. It isn't listed as a painkiller, but it acts as a muscle relaxant so "cramp or no cramp?". Yes! it can make a massive difference. to the actual amount of pain you actually feel. I can only generalise or go from personal experience. It doesn't effect my other meds, although it is always good to be aware of a build up of meds! I may feel ok but I definitely won't drive or stand too close to the edge of any precipice just incase! LOL!.
Let me know how you go?
Cheers Lynda
Yes i take it on an as needed basis only at 2mmg three timesdaily.I also wear a fentanyl patch and take tramadol and lyrica. It helps greatly with back spasm and i ha e been on off it now for 5 yrs with no addiction,If im comfortable i skip a dose and never take it more than 3/4 days in a row.
Hi I was taking these, I took them for 25 years for anxiety, I came off them 2 years ago and I went through horrible withdrawal, it made me very poorly, so please only them short term they are very addictive and cause more problems than they help, hope you don't mind me saying...
Valium IS Diazepam
