Glad its working for the pain. Have you seen a physio for exercises? Getting shown the right exercises is one of the best things you can do to relieve sciatica and stop it coming back again.

I've had sciatica for almost 23 YEARS! Be very careful, if you start to go numb in your legs, straight to A&E

My started 2005. When your in pain you do it all. I found SI bone site and foot. Leg. Butt pain and numbness gone.

Sorry don't understand what you mean? Believe me I've tried every treatment possible for sciatica and other nerve pain from slipped discs and have done since 1981.

Good luck with this - sounds like you needed it. I wont go down the route of these drugs - would like to continue to drive - unfortunately if I did take the CD (Controlled Drugs) my freedom would be lost.

in reply toAmyPS

It depends how they affect you. I take two controlled drugs and I still drive.

Amy - I am on a high dose of morphine and still drive. Most people do. Once your system is used to it after a few days, you are allowed to drive - there is now an 'advice for drivers' section in the leaflet that comes with morphine.

Agree with earthwitch, exercises and wean yourself off the morphine as soon as poss, because there will be a time in the future when it stops working and you will need something stronger, and the cycle repeats. That compromises your health and options if you ever need an operation in the future.

I've been on it for almost 3 years and it's still effective.

I would stay off the morphine if you can. At my pain clinic they won't give opioids. I have just spent. 7 months withdrawing from fentanyl patches as they now feel they are bad for you immune system and other complications. It is a route I wish I had never started. There is now nerve stimulation they have for sciatica. Maybe it's worth looking into.

The pain rehab clinic I went to tried to tell me that I had to come off morphine, my GP disagreed and I've been on it 3 years now.

B vitamins heal the nerves but it takes time. I use my Tens machine

in reply tovictoria1000

It's 20 years since I went numb all below the waist. My neurosurgeon told me the numbness would slowly go... Here I am, still numb all down my right leg, a part of my left, a part of my buttocks and "bits" still. There's slow and there's not a chance lol

Had MRI waiting for appointment for pain clinic and to see consultant.
