thanks for the reply, sounds like it really benefitted you
I regularly have nerve block done in my neck and for me, they are an absolute godsend! You may find that the pain is worse for up to a fortnight, but after that, what a difference! It lasts up to six months and I have it done twice a year.
The surgeon will give you a local anaesthetic to numb the area he/she is doing the block. It can be a little uncomfortable (the nerve block) but not painful.
I have had Fibro for over 15years and in the interim have had surgery on both shoulders, both elbows and knee. I do hope you have some success and I wish you all the best.
I'm so glad to hear that others have had such positive experiences.
Had nerve block for tennis elbow/carpal tunnel. It didn't really work - I felt marginally better after about three weeks but within a few weeks, the pain was back with a vengence and seemed to come on rather suddenly.
Had to have another three months later. Still hasn't helped. told I'd have to repeat every three months or so but fed up now so can't be bothered. Fiddly, uncomfortable and more trouble than it was worth. Using topical stuff now together with the usual pain meds and support wear.
Wishing you all the very best. Things work differently for everyone so do give it a try for yourself.
Hi Mikew, have had 4 now,the first one lasted nearly a year, the second 6 months, the 3rd 3 months the 4 had no effect at all, so if you having this as a first then you will most likely get a good result, I need surgery but I'm very reluctant as I have had two big back operations and can't face any more. I wish you a completely pain free future.
You may benefit from using Turmeric. There's a group on Facebook called the 'Turmeric User Group' (TUG). It was set up by Doug English who's an Aussie Veterinarian and has 60,000 + members. It's a closed group so you have to request to become a member and it informs you which Turmeric is best to use (not all are equal) that it needs to be taken with Virgin/extra Virgin cold pressed oil and freshly ground black pepper and why you should not use commercial capsules because of their high levels of Curcumin, which is toxic in large doses. They recommend three oils in particular. There's a search facility at the top of the page and I think Turmeric has benefited fibro sufferers. It does have a lot of posts about animals, but pet owners use it for themselves and there have been many articles on how it's helped people suffering with pain and inflammation. The other thing you might find helps you is something called DMSO. I have seen many posts from people with chronic pain, arthritis, CRPS/RSD who have used it topically on the affected areas and had relief, but there are many grades as it started life as a solvent, so high quality grades from reputable sources are essential. It has anti-inflammatory properties, but also dampens down pain. Hopefully though your nerve block will bring you some relief, but the info on Turmeric and DMSO is there in case you need it. Do your research though beforehand and TUG is a great source of info on Turmeric and science based. If you do a search, use capitols at the beginning of each word and many people fail to find the group because they don't and also they misspell Turmeric. Good luck with your nerve block and sorry I can't help you as far as that's concerned.
How lucky you are but still you should not ignore this accident, be very careful next time and consult your orthopedic surgeon. orthopedicsurgerysandiego.com/
