Mri scan

How long does one wait till you get the outcome ? I was only told the specialist would write to me or phone if it was serious.

It really varies a great deal. Depends upon what is being looked for. How easy it is to see. How complex the problem is etc. I have had the results of an MRI within an hour on one occasion. On another I have had to wait about 10 days. Both times the scans had good news. HTH. Rib

Alas I am not a specialist and the only part of MRI that I would be able to read would be the little bit at the top where it says Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Rib

You would know before the next day if it was serious. What is serious to them is not whats important to us... they may see a spot of cancer and say eh' I've seen worse..

to us when we get the call, we are devastated..

I had an emergency MRI scan for a previous head injury I had my accident was in 2011 and the MRI scan was last year in 2013, I had to wait 3 weeks til I got the results through the post, didn't understand what he wrote so booked in to see my GP there they explanded it alot better.

I hope you hear back from them soon and it's nothing serious, I was told that even if they had spotted a bleed on my brain they would still have to go to my GP, might be different for you, since it's your back and not your head. (hope that makes sense)

Hope you get the results back soon and it's nothing bad/serious.

Take care, Amateur

Allow two weeks then see your own gp. They should have full access to report on line even if letter not received. The point is that an MRI is a diagnostic tool so presumably you need to return for treatment whatever. Good luck :-)

They should contact you if there is anything seen that requires any further action, but my experience in our NHS region is that you don't get given the results unless you have an appointment with the doctor who ordered the test and you specifically ask about it. I guess its a case of "no news is good news"

My sick note runs out soon I need another type of meds tramdol is just making me sleep 13 -15 hours a day I will ask when I make appointment

Not what you're looking for?
