I think it's a personal thing....my Dad hated the stockings ....but a friend of mine think they are great.

You did not say what it is for but my older brother who has really bad D V T. He said that stockings do help but you cant beat having a compression bandage on. With it he is still able to work full time at night doing a physical job. With out it his leg can swell up to over twice the size size where he cant walk.

Circ aide compression was the most comfortable, adjustable, best fitting system ever for me. 100 USD will get you one. There is nothing like it. I did bandages - which do not really give you the desired compression, the compression socks are hard to get on.. circ aid took me a minute to put on or less. It's holding up after 3 months and working out so I barely know that it's there. Compression socks hurt me. They are custom made to fit you.
