Can anyone recommend anything for a really itchy scalp? My skin seems to be very sensitive at the moment, putting it down to the meds.

I've always had dry skin and eczema but my scalp is driving me mad! I last coloured my hair at Christmas and it made my scalp blister so haven't done it since. Tried changing shampoos but hasn't made a difference.

Hi KittyGalore

When I get the itchy skin and it can be all over with me I use Vosene on my hair but then I do use Badedas shower gal which has a healing content called Horse chestnut. I have used it for years and found when my wife had her op for breast cancer, the doctor saw the Badedas and told us that the horse chestnut content is good for healing. So not trying to advertise my choice for normal showering is Badedas.and if your head is really itchy use Vosene.

Take care and kindest regards

Terry

Thankyou x

Hello

I have psoriasis and use POLYTAR PLUS to cool down the itching, have used Badedas over many years and it does seem to calm the skin as a bubble bath, One of the old ways for the skin was cutacura soap products, although the smell is a little off putting.

When my skin is calm I try and use Just Soap, (trade name).

That is all I can suggest

Good Luck

BOB

Try Nazoril shampoo. Not harsh, smelly or abrasive but effectively clears yeasts which cause problems.

as a Complementary therapist it is proven that the coal tar can upset the colon and cause all sorts of nasty problems. In therapy we use Jojoba oil. It has the same sebum as the hair does and it does the trick easily. Keeps my seborrhoea away.

Try evening primrose capsules. They are about £1 at your local ASDA. They if they can help will take a month before they are effective.

For itching skin try dilute bleach.

If you want to keep colouring your hair, best to go to a salon and have highlights or lowlights rather than full head colour. Explain your problem and they will take care to protect scalp. Wait for your irritation to settle first. I think your GP should prescribe though, not use OTC stuff. If you must colour at home, always do an allergy test as recommended.

Hi angel

I suffer from psoriasis on my face and scalp and I find i suffer more when my scalp is dry.

I buy olive oil moisture cream and lather it onto my scalp and put shower cap on and towel over it for few hours once a week and use nizoril shampoo prescribed by gp twice week to keep it under control.

Evening primrose will help the condition as well

Take care and angel blessings xx

I used to have a very itchy scalp and very dry hair, but now I use an expensive shampoo, which has no perfume in it. I'm sure their are cheaper brands, just as good but, havng found this one I stay with it. M&S do it its Phillip KIngsley and covers a whole range of hair products such as conditioner, and for different types of hair. Mine lasts for ages, I don't think it works out any more expensive in the long run. Different things work for different people and if your scalp is very itchy, it may help to talk to your GP as it may be a skin condition that needs a special treatment shampoo.

Oilatrum shampoo and bath oils were the only thing that calmed my daughters skin when it played up.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, had a look in Boots today but will go to the docs tomorrow to see if he can prescribe anything. I've got a really itchy flakey dry patch of skin just under my lip so I've a feeling it might be stress related.

Won't be colouring my hair again anytime soon, will just have to live with the silver high lights.

Will let you know what I try and if it works xxx
