It literally stops me dead in my tracks I can't move or breath because it makes the pain more intense. Any ideas?
Hello all :) so I had a major surgery back in... - Pain Concern
Hello all :) so I had a major surgery back in oct and since then I have had a horrible stabbing/burning pain in my rib area acrossfrom boob?
Hello
Anything like this you should see your GP. He will know if it is from your Operation or something new
Good Luck

Agree with Bob - something to ask your doctor. It is quite possible that there has been some scarring that has either made something feel like it is pulling, or even possibly trapped a nerve. Ask your doctor if physio would help.
Hi..yes unless your on different meds..I would def go back to a gp.. I knew for a fewdays after my last op l felt uin well and lot of heart burn...doc told me ..well you'll of had tubes in mouth..down below..which can course infection..but now waiting my 2nd back op now I get pains under my breast .rib area..but think mines muscle pain??go to doctor.or better still ask to speck to the hosptail doctor who done your back.l did when my scars started leaking xxxx

Hi Humphrey 10
Sorry to hear about your pain. As it has persisted for so long I definitely feel as the others do that you should have a word with your doctor or specialist. I have something that sounds similar and it is caused by costo-chondritis which is an inflammation of the rib cage. Hope that you get an answer to your problem soon and can find a cure.
If it was me, I'd schedule an appointment with my Doctor as soon as possible. It could be unrelated to your previous surgery, or it could be as a result of the prior surgery. Heck, maybe they even left a surgical instrument inside of you. This is why I'd be seen by my GP ASAP. Good luck!
I know exactly how you feel! I had 2 thoraic surgery in 2013, I know the burning, stabbing relentless pain you speak of. It has a name, "Post Thoratic Surgery Pain Syndrome" I have been treated for it ever since my surgery. The lining in your chest, the ribs, the lungs and heart is very, very sensitive, not to mention unforgiving! I'm on Lyrica and Oxycodone, as well as a muscle relaxer. My pain management physician told me it lasts for 4-5 years after the surgery. My incision runs around my lower ribs from back almost to my breast bone. I also have had a couple of epidurals, which helped tremendously. Ask your GP to send you to a pain management specialist. You will be glad you did!
