Hi everyone!! For the past year I have an off and on again bout with severe that radiates into groin causing severe pain.It is a nerve pain.

I have have had 3 back surgeries , L5_S1 fusion and L-4-5 discectomy and C5-7 fusion. The pain starts in my hip causing it to lock up and then the pain radiates down into my groin. Pain is severe to point makes me sick. This time it is worse, it is moving from groin and hip down into upper thigh to knee it feels like leg is being twisted in the upper thigh area and cannot bear to put wait on it.It feels like nerve pain and also having problems urinating. I also have Fibromyalgia and Degenerative Disc Disease,

Have you been investigated for urinary problems or for inguinal hernia. Inguinal hernia is rare in women, but I had surgery last year for a similar type of pain. Resolved after surgery, tho I do get pain infrequently especially in the same area if constipated.

Hope you manage to get some relief.

Hello BOB here

You seem to have gone through the mill here what with surgery etc.

It sounds that you have a trapped nerve from the lower spine, not knowing you it is possibly a Sciatic or trapped nerve going down your leg and the pain is radiating down into your knee.from lower back/hip.

With all the problems of the lower back this may be effecting the bladder,and going for a pee, All I can suggest here is talk to your GP, or Specialist, I do not know what terms you us in the USA. I under the circumstances would want to get the bladder problems looked into in case you suffer fluid retention of something associated with the problem caused by damage to the spine and associated operations, Hernias are possible although again I am not a doctor, so a further Specialist may need to be seen

Sadly I am here to give help and support I am not a medical man, my suggestions are that and you will need to see your medical team(s). They if not already will discuss pain medications and treatments

Thank you Bob for you great concern and support.. I too am wondering if it is a trapped nerve, it is just as you described. The urinary problem only starts when the pain gets unbearable and worse. I have been going through a week of this now!! Began in my hip and groin area and now it has moved its way down to my knee.,but still pulling in the bend of my leg (groin area) Feels like a tight band twisting the muscles and nerves..really hard to describe. I guess it will just keep working its way down! I have pain meds but they are not doing a thing with this, I just need to be knocked out until its over!!!!

Hi Marley

Your symptoms are pretty much identical to mine, I have the same problems and also had surgery. I also had a trapped nerve that was horrendous, where it went down my leg and in my groin area. Whilst doing my surgery they freed my nerve as I was having this problem persistently. I now on occasion seem to notice it but not as much. I would definitely get this checked out as it could be the same thing.

Hi can I ask how the trapped nerve was found or diagnosed? Im having similar problems and am trying my best to find a reason for all this pain. Hope you're well

I really think you should go and get advice I know from personal experience that doctors take the problem very seriously and will act quickly to try and get things sorted.

I feel for you being in such pain and hope you have the help of a pain clinic to give you some more effective pain management. I am totally with you on being knocked out till it is over I often wish someone would just put me to sleep for a few days to give my brain and body a rest from the pain.
