Is there anything you can do to stop muscle spasms from happening?? I have on going back issues... 2 Slipped Discs, spondylitic problems, de hydrated discs...etc. I can cope usually with this but the muscle spasm pain I get in my hip/pelvis is excruciating! I am taking pregabalin for pain but doesn't seem to be doing anything!!

Hi Deb,

I do a few excercises to help spasms and also take Baclofen which is an antispasmodic that helps. I say speak to your doctor as they may recommend meds or therapy to help you. Hope this helps.

I totally agree with you debs, your symptoms are similar to mine, yes, it's not nice and can be very embarrassing when they do occur.

Can we stop them, then No.

It's the not known off when they are going to happen that I don't like.

Am also on baclofen, do I feel it helps, then No.

I also take Naproxen 250mg, MST 30mg -90mg every 12hrs, I have nerve inpergment on lumber discs, with the same on discs C2 to C6, which effects my arms on a daily basis on which I also suffer with spasms and major weakness, my strength in my arms is getting weaker.

You take care,

Joe

You sound like you cope with a lot more than me! Take care and thank you for reply. X

Hello

One thing you could possibly try is the TENS MACHINE, its use could possibly confuse nerves and tendons as it does for pain, possibly use it as an EMS where the settings are low but strong, it will need to be comfortable, this will possibly ease the stress of the flutter of the spasm. by confusion. It is just a thought, actual rubbing of the area may help. I used to rub the effected area, that also seems to help

Give it a try, look for alternatives before jumping down the road to the use of medication, of course spasm can be associated with other things, try different things using a compress may help, Just a thought

I find my TENS is the only thing that works, although today I;ve been prescribed Arcoxia and Lidocaine patches for use if necessary.

Hi Ann I too find the only thing that gives relief is a Tens. How long do you leave it on? I could do with using mine all day every day. But I am sure that I was recommended against this. Although recent research suggests that I could. I am lumbered with this pain for life so I would hate to think it would cease to be effective.

zma and vitamin d helps me with occipital nerve pain and spasms from herniated discs in my neck. if the pain gets horrible I use a compounded cream with ketamine, baclofen and some other drugs in it.
