All the evidence....

..seems to pointing to ovarian cancer. After some years of treatment/tests for IBS and bowel cancer, a doctor I'd never seen before flagged up OC as a strong contender for causing the tummy aches, bloating etc etc. And they were definitely not silent symptoms.

This morning I'm going to doctor's to get the results of the blood tests. I've tried to prepare, but not easy. No matter how much you say it in your head, For once, I hope I'm wrong (bet my ex-husband would faint away if he read that!)

Dear Jean

What an anxious time for you. I'm so glad you've found this forum where you will find lots of support. Of course we all hope that the fears will prove unfounded. The blood test results aren't conclusive so keep the pressure up for scans and further investigation. You may find the symptom checker BEAT on the Ovacome website helpful.

Wishing you the best of luck.

Dear Jean

I'm sorry you have to go through all this worry - and I'm hoping beyond anything that the CA125 and other tests they might do prove that it's really nothing to worry about.

Please let us know how you get on. We'll be here to give you love and support if it's a bit pear-shaped.

Sending loads of love and a hug, xxx Annie

Fingers crossed for you Jean -- it's a horribly anxious time. If fears are proven we are here for you

Good luck today, it may not be bad news so stay positive. Blood tests aren't conclusive at all, mine was within the normal range, it was a scan that identified a cyst and the biopsy identified cancer, so it's in no way a definite until you have had further investigations.

Do keep us inoformed of how you get on have my fingers crossed for you.

Hi Jean

Sending you my best wishes too and fingers crossed for you that

you have good news.

Last year at this time I had just received the bad news none of us want

to hear - but 12months later i'm doing well.

Please let us know how you are.

Love Angie xx

Dear all,

Thank you so, so, much for your comments and support. The blood test results were fine. I've a scan in 6 weeks or so to check for fibroids, cysts etc.

What this has done of course, is opened my eyes to the difficulty of diagnosing this disease. I think forums like this are a godsend, just finding out about the community on here was a help such a help. In return for the support that I've received I would like to make a donation to a relevant charity. So any suggestions would be welcome. My very best wishes and love to all of you.

To Ovacome itself in my view! I am sure most would agree - helps to fund nurse helpline as well as this forum we all depend on!

There is a donate now button low on left hand side here ovacome.org.uk/

And completely forgot to say: BRILLIANT, so happy for you.

Hi, Thanks for the link PRchick. I'm printing the form off to make a regular contribution. Just having a glimpse of what this disease can do has been a wake up call. My thoughts are with all the women who responded to my post..

That is utterly wonderful Jean -- thanks from us all, the ones who benefit! :-D

Hi Jean

Wonderful! i missed your post earlier on! I am so glad the pressure is off and hope that the scan makes the cause of your problems clear. As you say, this site is great for those moments when you get worried about the possibilities, or relieved about outcomes.

However, it is Ovacome that does all the work. I'm so glad you've joined!

The Ovacome website has so much info. If you go on there and look at the option: BEAT ovarian cancer with Ovacome on the right hand side, there is a symptom tracker that you can fill in to give your doctor more ideas about what's happening. It may be worth doing it and printing it off to take along to your GP if there are any further symptoms.

Have a wonderful Christmas :-)

Love Wendy xx
