Stage 1 T1A concerns and ovary regeneration.

Hi All,

I had a stage 1 T1A borderline tumour removed along with my right ovary in early 2006.

I have recently been having recurring symptoms and after seeing a Gyne consultant, am now waiting to be booked in for a total hysterectomy with ovary and tube removal.

I had some cells left following surgery, and my ovary has regenerated along with several 'cysts' so due to my history, it's all coming out.

I thought i'd got past it all after almost 6 years and find myself crashing back to earth with a huge bump!!!

Has anyone else had or know of anyone who has had an ovary removed (oophrectomy) and it has regenerated??

Sorry to hear of your worries, I can't answer your question, but the helpline nurses probably will be able to (0845371 0554). I had borderline OC in 2002 but had everything removed, including the omentum, where there were some "suspicious" cells, according to my surgeon. He was a great believer in taking away anything that may develop in the future, and so far, has proved to be right! It sounds as if your health team are on the right track this time, with a total hysterectomy and anything else that looks as if it could develop. I know it's a worry, having to go through the op again, but from what I understand, borderline cells are less likely to develop again, so I hope that, this time, they remove all that may cause you problems in the future. You have experience of "fighting the beast", and getting over it, so this should help you to stary strong and recover well in your next steps. I hope that your surgery goes well and that they get all the cells this time

Life has a way of reminding you not to get too comfortable, doesn't it - but let them resolve the situation and look after yourself, and get back on with enjoying your life.

im really interested to hear your experiences as 2 years ago i had surgery for a large ovarian cyst which turned out to be very earlystage 1 OC

what was a suprise to the consultant when he opened me up was that the mass was on my right even though i had had my right ovary removed in 2001 for a cyst which was declared normal. it hadnt appeared so on my scans! he did explain that very occasionallly cells get left behind and the ovary can regenerate. im pleased to say im now really well and it does seem as if your regrowth has been caught earlier than mine was and as wendy says the outlook is very good when caught early so hopefully this surgery will get things propoerly sorted out.

what my consultand did do as he felt i didnt meed chemo was to do a laparoscopy 10 weeks after the surgery to do extra biopsys and a pelvic washout to check everything was removed which it was and i found very reassuring. i now just have 4 monthly Ca 125 checks whihc will drop to 6 monthly next year.

i do hope all goes well and you can then get on with living!
