Hi Everyone,

Has anyone had platinum resistant on there first line of treatment? and then went on to second line treatment treated with just Paclitaxel?, I go once a week for just Paclitaxel and SaPPrOC [trail drug] the chemotherapy treatment will last for 32 weeks, I was wondering what the outcome was? and if they got a better remisson, since mine came back after 3 months on the first line treatment which is what happens with platinum resistant it comes back early I had clear cell.

Hi Sarah

Mine came back 9 months after Carbo/taxol but was unresponsive to Cisplatin on second round. I was lucky in that the second round was operable ( same scar) and they 'got everything visible' again but I am fully expecting it back sooner rather than later. I also had a colostomy into the bargain! I am off chemo etc at present and hoping that it stays that way for a while. My OC seems to be selectve about the kind of platinum chemo that it responds to.

Good luck with yours!

Margaret

Hi BusyLizzie

nice to hear from you how are you doing love hearing from you, I have just spent 10 days in hospital I had adhesion obstruction blockage which I had to have a operation luckley there was no tumour to be found which is what they thought was blocking it, my CA125 was 36 but when you have had an operation your numbers will go up I only had done 7 cyclcles of chemo so it upset me when all this happen I had no idea its quite a common problem with O.C I would not which it on anyone it was a horrible experince, it took a lot at of me, but I am on the mend and will contiune with my Chemo next week.

Hi Sarah,

Lovely to hear from you also.

So sorry to hear about your recent issue but great that the outcome is positive. Your CA125 is doing great which stands you in good stead. I am afraid abdominal issues with the bowel are a big thing with oc, I think I am on the way to a bowel blockage and the district nurses and mac nurse have set up a 'just in case' box here at my home for emergency symptom treatments if/when it occurs.

I have only had my first weekly taxol, so I'll know more in 3 weeks if it is doing anything for me. I was drained yesterday of 3 litres so less bloated, but my abdomen is numb and walking is difficult still. Also still vomiting twice a day, but in constant contact with GP and my support team. Things are tough here but I am confident your good response to treatment will keep you well.

Stay strong and keep the faith and as Margaret says, "Up the bolshies".

Love Lizzie
