3rd line Carpoplatin & Paclitaxel.

My story is I’m back on tread mill again. Started Chemotherapy again after Avastin didn’t work as maintenance.

Disappointing especially as Olaparib also didn’t work for me in 2023.

After being mostly bald for the past two years (was told Caelyx wouldn’t lose my hair!). As I now have grown hair back I’m trying the cold cap with correct size cap. Nurse said I would probably lose my hair again :-(

Chemotherapy my 3rd line is over 18 weeks, any coping advice please lovely ladies. ?

I’ve signed up to Target International. The study checks blood for mutations of my DNA I’m BRACA 2. This might lead to a trial in the future.

Hoping this year is kind to you all.

Oh so sorry you're back to carbo/taxol. Does your oncologist think this will work?

I am in a better position third time around with a lesion they could use RT on.

It might be worth trying alternatives. I cannot prove it but I believe that what I took for three years actually kept my cancer away and it was only after I stopped it that it returned. Obviously, you would have to check it out with your doctor.

I had no luck with the cold cap.

Prayers and hugs🙏🙏 xx

Thank you for your comments.

I’m not sure if the 3rd chemo from relapse would be classed as 4th line?! I had 4 years NED.

I’m still chemotherapy sensitive so hopefully the 6 cycles will reduce / remove new spread. The original tumour by spleen is stubborn .

Olaparib didn’t stop growth nor did Avastin. It’s trial and error!

Good luck with Radio Therapy hope it goes well for you. Hugs L

Hi Towergirl, I’m so sorry to hear you’re going through this again, especially after your hair finally growing back. The cold cap worked for me, I persevered and made sure I had a snugly fitted cap and really soaked my hair beforehand. I did lose some but not that anyone else would’ve noticed. Good luck to you xx

Hi Schnauzer 19,

It sounds trivial to worry about hair but I’ve had two summers being bald. The first year of relapse I did request cold cap but a medium size cap was fitted. This proved to be too big as I quickly lost hair. The second year both Oncologist and ward nurse said no cold cap as Caelyx would just course slight thinning ! Wrong , it got so thin that my scalp was shining through.

This time I asked my oncologist to request cold cap, despite this the oncology ward staff tried to say I couldn’t have it because I stopped it before!!

After I explained that this wasn’t my fault they relented and fitted properly a SMALL cap, sprayed hair with water first,. Fingers crossed I hope this works, though with my fine hair it might not, but this time at least I’ve tried.

It’s my nephew’s wedding this August , though I’ve got a lovely wig, I hope I don’t have to wear it. Hugs and best wishes x

I totally understand how you feel. It might work better with thinner hair as it will be more in contact with the scalp 🤞. Hugs and best wishes to you too xxx

Hi Towergirl. I’m so sorry you’re facing carbo taxol again and I totally get how you feel about being bald again. It’s really adding insult to injury. I had carbo alone for my third line and it worked pretty well though not to ned. And I was allergic to it and had to have a long desensitization process. My hair thinned even on that. Now I’m in watch and wait mode. I hope your treatment goes as well as possible and the cold cap works this time!
