I had no hair loss, just a rash on my legs and torso and very dry hands and feet. E45 shower soap and lotion after and Aveeno hand cream. I used the repair one, I think it was blue and it eased the ‘pain’ a lot.

Rest when you need to, quite a bit of fatigue...but managed a walk everyday. Good luck x

Hi I am glad you asked this question as I am just off the phone from my oncologist and I too am starting on this very soon. I have found the responses to your question interesting also. Thank you

It is amazing how much support and encouragement you get from this site isn’t it. What tends to give me a major meltdown many people have been through already and can offer reassurance. Take care Janet. X

I agree. Loads of creme in hands and feet, no hot water. I had bad fatigue the first week though I’m now ten days out from my sixth and final treatment and extremely fatigued. It’s not a bad regime.

Hi Janet I finished carbo/caelyx in December I think the fatigue was the worst side effect for me as it lasted for a week after every infusion I had other niggling symptoms but nothing life changing. I did have very dry hands but the hospital gave me emulsified cream which worked really well. My hair thinned a bit on top but it was only me that really noticed. I found it an easy treatment and the 4 lesions I had one halved in size 3 disappeared. You have it every 4 weeks

which meant I had 3 weeks of feeling great Good luck 😉

Thanks Lyn! For some reason it makes it feel much less daunting knowing other women are doing it too! And 3 weeks out of 4 is fine by me 🤞

Hi Janet, I know how you feel about the Avastin. I had a good time on it before it all came to an end and like you I went onto Carbo/Caelyx. I was lucky and didn't have any dry skin problems, but had a flushed look after each infusion like I'd been in the sun. For me the fatigue was the worst thing and you really need to rest. Also my neutrophils took a pounding and treatments 4, 5 and 6 had to be delayed . Instead of the 6 cycles taking 5 months it took 8 months due to the delays. But by the end it had pushed the disease back slightly in all areas which was positive.

Wishing you all the best with your treatment and take extra care in these very difficult times.

Nicola

Hi Janet the worst side effects for me were the low neutrophils which kept delaying chemo. For my skin I used Averno baby products in the shower and as a moisturizer. They really helped and I also avoided any tight clothes and getting too hot. Other than that it was good. Good luck x

Thank you! Did you have injections for your Neutrophils..xx

No they were more concerned about my joint pain so I wasn't given injections but I did have them with carbo gem. They certainly kept my neutrophils up. Good luck x
