Waiting for results

Hi everyone,

I had a giant ovarian cyst removed, along with my ovary & fallopian tube 6 weeks ago. I have still not received any results. Is this normal? Could it be that no news is good news?

I would be most grateful to hear of anyone’s experience & timeline when awaiting results.

Thank you kindly

Hi Choc33

I had my results after weeks. That wait felt like ages so I can only imagine how 6 weeks feels. It does seem like a

Sorry pressed the wrong button… I got my results after 3 weeks. I would chase them up if I were you.

Good luck xx Jen

Thank you for your response. I know that the NHS is really under pressure but I’ll chase them up as I’ve been so worried about the results.

I hope you are well.

I was told it would be around 3 weeks which it was but you do need to advocate for yourself. 6 weeks is long enough to wait so give them a nudge.

I hope you get good news xx Jen

I had the same surgery, my results took 8 weeks, I chased them each week from 6 weeks.

I am UK based and mine were 3 weeks ( I was told before the op that would be the timeframe) maybe call the centre to ask when to expect them. Good luck, hope they give you good news eventually.

Hi Chic 33 each case is different but I had to wait 11 weeks for my result as it turned out I have a rare ovarian cancer and my hospital had to send it to a London hospital for confirmation. I did have to chase this up though. This doesn't mean it is the same for you, but I would ring your consultant's secretary to find out what is going on. I sympathise with your wait. It's horrible but wish you all the best xx

That seems like a long wait for results I wonder is the delay in the histology results or in waiting on an appt to tell you the results My experience was gynae received the results from histology in around 1-2 weeks and then they arranged an appt to tell me what they were. I received results quickly as it was covid times and a lot was by telephone and I had made it clear I was ok with hearing by telephone. I would try to chase them up as it is awful worrying and the results might be sitting there Best Wishes

I hope the results come to you soon! I feel for you having to wait like this. I had a 12 pound 10 inch Cyst on my right ovaries removed in October 2023. It was benign thank goodness. I had to ask my gynecologist for the results in a follow up visit at 8 weeks.

Definitely chase up, or ask your GP to do so, as they may have more clout. The Christmas holiday would have delayed things but 6 weeks is much too long to wait.

Hey. I’ve had stomach issues for a few months went in for a ca 125 wasn’t bad 36.8. But now I’m in so much pain. Just got my period so that doesn’t help. I have an ultrasound in a few does. But I’m really hoping to go in today. Really need to know what’s going on. I haven’t slept all night. I’m also suffering from chronic stress. So maybe that’s it. Just adding to the stress of it all.

Hi Choc33, I waited for 2 weeks after my ovarian cyst was removed with both ovaries, both fallopy tubes, uterus, periteneum, some bowek tissues, cervix.. all had gone. They need to wait the biopsy result, then MDT will had a meeting prior announce the result to the patient.

All the best for your recovery after the surgery and hope to hear the good outcome.

Hi Bandung, thank you for your reply. I’m hoping that the results will be ok as I’ve been waiting so long, so I’m assuming that if they were bad they might have contacted me before now? 🤞

I hope you are doing ok after everything that you’ve been through? Hats off to you as I’m still in pain post op and my surgery was nothing compared to what you had to go through.

Wishing you all the best.
