Hi ladies, need advice on my mother's current situation. She's 3c high grade carcinoma ovarian cancer patient. She was diagnosed first in 2016 then 2019 then 2022. Her CA markers are up again. It has shoot up to 17 from 10. Same pattern was there last time 10,12,17,35,68,140.... Doctors are not going to do anything right away I know. But now her avastin and olaparib options are done. What next now ?? And one more thing I wanted to mention that she has responded to chemo quite well everytime. Do we have any immunotherapy left now ? I'm little panicking right now. Need your advice.
3rd recurrence : Hi ladies, need advice on my... - My Ovacome
3rd recurrence
Hello I’m sorry to hear of your Mom’s journey I’m not in the same situation but you mentioned immunotherapy I’m in my 1st recurrence first line was Carbo/taxol which worked for 22 months I’m in the states this time my Onc wants retreat with Carbo/taxol again but is also adding the immunotherapy drug keytruda in a maintenance setting or someone that can’t go thru another chemo at present you would get an infusion every 3 weeks takes 30 minutes there are side effects but watch you very closely Hope this helps
If you are in the UK, there are likely further chemo options available. l’m on my 5th, after original diagnosis in 2016, when I had carbo/taxol, then carbo/caelyx in 2017 followed by over three years on Niraparib. Then I had carbo/gemzar in 2021, carbo alone in 2022 and currently having weekly taxol. I’m also being considered for a trial at Guy’s. What can be offered depends on what combinations she’s already had, and how willing her oncologist is to consider different treatments.
I’d definitely ask if your mum could be considered for any trials, assuming that would be something she would be interested in? I was diagnosed stage 3b HGS OC BRAC2 in October 2007 and have trialed Avastin, Cedranib and currently Olaparib (still trialling). I wish your mum well. Xx
