Advice for treatment of liver metastases.

Hi Ladies I finished chemo in February for second recurrence. Unfortunately my CA125 was rising, was 9 the 27 now 55 and it's a good indicator for me that something is happening. Had a CT and it shows one tumor 2.4cms in my liver. All clear otherwise. Lots of emotions. Disappointed but relieved it's just in one place.

My oncologist wants to do a bx.

I have requested a referral to a liver specialist. I would like to know has anyone had treatment on their liver? My oncologist is not in favor of surgery but I'm wondering is there other options.

I'm in Ireland and will be going to Dublin for the referral. Do any of the Irish women on here have any advice?. My oncologist wants to keep me off chemo for as long as possible. I'm feeling very well at the moment.

Ann

Hi Ann, sorry to hear that you have a tumour on your liver now. I cant give you any advice as so far so good the liver has been clear. Is radiation an option or even maintenance to keep the tumour at bay? Hopefully they will find some way of stopping it in its tracks. All the best going forward & take care X Mag

Tks Mag. I'm hoping to get more information from the liver specialist, whenever I get an appointment!. I'm feeling very well otherwise. Tks for getting back to me. I tried to pm you but didn't get it right,😏. Hope you are getting on well with Niraparib.

Hi, I have just been told that the cancer has progressed to my liver and spleen. I start chemo again (6 sessions) next week. I was on Niraparib for a year. This is my first recurrance. No mention made of surgery yet though I am to have a scan after 3. I would query why no chemo. Good luck xxx

Hi Skyeplus ,Tks for getting back to me. The reason for not starting chemo soon is because this would be my fourth line and having chemo less than six months between courses can result in becoming platinum resistant. To date I have responded really well to carbol platinum/paclitaxol.

I'm hoping to get opinion from a liver specialist asap. What chemo is planned for you?. I hope it goes well.

Best wishes.

Evening Ann, gosh, fourth!, you’ve been through it!, I am having carbol platinum/paclitaxol which I’ve had before. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. There’s other helpful responses, sorry mine wasn’t. It’s just (I hope) helpful to know that we are not alone on this journey. Sending big hugs xxxx

Hi Speedlings.I have metastatic in liver too. I had clinical trial a few years ago, then one left, so it was small, I had ablation. Now I have recurrence there, going in surgery on 12th this month to remove that part of liver. I don't know what 's your liver specialist says, but hope they can find you the best options for you. Sending you love and healing light. ,💕🙏💕🙏💕

Tks carrotmunch ,I don't know anything about ablation. How did you find it,was it painful? Did you need chemo as well?

I'm just trying to get as much info as possible and hopefully make the right decision.

I wish you well with your surgery. When were you diagnosed?. Hope you don't mind all the questions!.

Best wishes

Ann🌹

I was offered by my consultant and liver specialists after CT scans. It was very quick and I was under general anaesthetic. 🤩 I didn't have IV chemo but I was on clinical trial drugs.

Good idea to gather as much info as you can, and have a chat with your consultant. 😊

Hope all goes well with you, sending you a big hug 🤗

dear Ann,

When my cancer was discovered in 2015, it was also in the liver. My oncologist gynaecologist did the hysterectomy and then a liver surgeon dissected affected segment of liver. ( took 4 hours) No recurrence until recently but on lining now - they won't operate though as not sure what’s underneath.

I’m on 7th line of chemo and they’re not sure what to give me. You have plenty of options - not pleasant but..,. I know there are 2 schools of thought about how soon you give chemo - my dr believes in catching it as soon as.

I live in Greece and there are no trials here unfortunately

Good luck with whatever decision you make and what advice you take.

Hi Erinna 72,You have been through a lot!. What chemo have you had.?.

My oncologist wants to wait until I'm six months out from last round of chemo, particularly as I'm feeling very well. Hopefully I'll stay that way.

I pray that they come up with an effective treatment for you.

Sending you prayers and best wishes

Ann.

I'm in the US. I have Clear Cell carcinoma original diagnosis 2017, recurrence 2021. Had front line treatment (carbo, taxol), 2nd line of treatment carbo, doxil, avastin, trial. No response until I started oral chemo Piqray which targeted my pic3ca mutation - this drug worked for a year shrinking tumors. I also have metastasis in my liver & on my spleen. Now I am on IV immunotherapy (Opdivo & Yervoy). CT scan will tell me if it is working on July 11. Oncologist has not recommended surgery for the liver or spleen.

Hi Ann, I had two surgeries on my liver on my second and third recurrences, done in SVPH, Dublin under Dr. Tony Stafford but required chemo again after both. I wish you all the best with surgery ❤️…Mags
