Does Avastin cause a drop in ca125?

Hello All,

I'm on Avastin as a maintenance treatment, and my ca125 is dropping a point or two with each blood test even though the main chemotherapy ended nearly 4 months ago. Has anyone else experienced this good effect?

That's great. As I understand it? the chemo that ended 4 months will still be having an affect on your body. So you'll get an effect from both.Generally in UK Avastin isn't classed as a maintenance drug as you have a set amount of treatments. Whereas maintenance drugs you can be on for years. That is certainly how it is for me. Hope 125 continues dropping for you.

I think this is a good sign, Avastin worked on me but not completely so my CA125 continued to increase.

I was on Avastin only for 23 months and my ca125 dropped from 700 to 32 gradually over that time frame. Best of luck to you!!

Thanks so much for your answer. That's wonderful! What happened when you finished the avastin?

My ca125 stayed down for about 6 months, but I had to do another round of Carbo taxol. I treat this as a chronic disease that will probably always need some type of maintenance....for now.

Yes, thank God. Avastin has kept my inoperable tumor from growing, post-radiation. It keeps my CA125 at a good number. Happy for you!
