Ca125

My ca125 has risen quite a bit in the last two months. Went from 21 to 42 and now it is at 58 the last check. Getting ct scan Monday. Last one in January was clear. Dr said he relies more on the scan cause the ca125 can fluctuate for different reasons, such as an infection. My scan was clear, but showed I have gall stones. I was wondering if that could affect the test. Has anyone had this result and gall stones caused ca125 to rise?

My Ca125 was stable at 5 when I went on holiday in September 21.Whilst I was there I was constantly vomiting, constipated and unable to eat anything.I really thought my cancer was back.It turned out when I had the CT scan that two enormous gall stones (one the size of a hen's egg) had lodged in my bowel. Had emergency surgery to remove them. The surgeon said it was an extremely unusual case. Never even thought it could be gall stones!

10 years prior to cancer diagnosis I had an emergency gallbladder removal. I Came round to what looked like a Cadbury creme egg in a specimen jar sitting next to me!! Until then I thought they were gravelly looking little things!I was shocked at how big it was.

I had no idea I had gallstones until my oncologist told me after my ct scan. They aren’t bothering me. Even though he said he goes more by the ct scan than ca125 I still worry about it. As you know cancer sucks and dominates your life when anything changes.

Although I haven't experienced what you are, I am aware of the severe inflammation that gallstones can cause which as I understand can cause fluctuations on 125 readings.
