CA125

Hello All - it is 6 weeks since my debulking op and today got the results of my end of treatment CA125 - it is 38. I have not seen the CT scan results yet. My question is although this is still above the recommended reading of 35 should I be concerned, especially as still quite close to op.

Hi. Have you had chemo yet since debulking? Mine was 8 at diagnosis but 20 5 weeks after surgery. It does respond to inflammations etc in your pelvis so the number could relate to the surgery itself. It's not exact.

Yes my chemo was four before debulking and two after. I see the Oncologist next week to find what happens now? guess she will put me on watch and wait?

Hi, as Delia says the CA125 reading can be affected by inflammation, infection can also affect it, it’s not always the OC that affects it and not everybody’s reading is indicative. Give it a little time and hopefully it will reduce by itself once things settle down. Well done on completing the chemo and I hope you’re as well as possible for the festivities 🎄❤️Xx Jane

Hi Lyn

My ca 125 rose after my operation but the prof wasn’t concerned. It had dropped again when I started chemo again . It was because of the inflammation from the op .

I was told mine would rise after my op before starting chemo again.

Hi Lyn, Chine up as our ladies have said inflammation can effect your 125 and it's only 6 weeks after your op,Take care of yourself and have a Merry Christmas with your loved ones Lorraine xx
