Morning lovely ladiesJust wondering if anyone knows anything about a 'normal' CA125 level, mine has now dropped to 9.2 and had my last chemo yesterday, CT scan next week then the agonising wait for my results. I have clear cell OC so CA125 results are not an accurate indicator.
Does anyone know the normal result for a women who has never had ovarian cancer, I know it has to be between 0-35
Hi, 9.2 is a very good response, anywhere between 0 to 35 is the norm. After 35 things are generally looked at more specifically. & over 35 and if the figure doubles.
You are definitely in the right ballpark and long may that continue.x
I think normal varies for everyone the same as the indication can be in the thousands, hundreds or lower. Mine has been 8 or 9 for 9 years now so I think you're well in the range. You're right that over 35 is not considered normal and should be investigated. Best wishes for the future. Zena x
Hi Bunnyj 😊 great news your CA125 dropped ., Like others say 0-35 is normal range. I too have clear cell OC, CA125 is always good indicater for me. Every time it creeps up, know that something is going on. Sending you lots of healing energy to your recovery! 🩷🙏🩷🙏🩷🙏
I don't think there is a specific normal figure It is very individual as long as less than 35 An persistent increase seems to be what is looked for as a warning indicator
Hi! Mine was 45 at diagnosis of High Grade Serous and stayed at 6-7 for 5 years. I have CA125 tested every 6 months. It tested at 85 in March 2020 and it was a recurrence in my groin. After surgery it went back to 7.2 and has stayed there. Next test is in August.
So my recurrence numbers are low compared to some but everyone’s ‘normal is different. Drs look at a rise over time. That tells them to get snooping!
As others say, normal is below 35. There are many different things that can cause it to fluctuate, especially in younger women, including any inflammation (even a cold), menstruation and endometriosis. Mine has fluctuated between 4 and 15 since my surgery in 2006. It was 680 at diagnosis and I've never had a recurrence.
