I was all set to start chemo on Thursday after getting colonoscopy this morning. Unfortunately they found an obstruction. I had complete hysterectomy and debulking surgery 3.5 weeks ago. Getting a barium enema tomorrow to find out more where obstruction is. This is so discouraging as I just feel like it’s 3 steps forward and 2 steps back. Doctor said I was at risk if bowel perforation happened and they have to get this fixed first. Anyone else have this happen?

Bowel obstruction after debulking surgery
I had a bowel blockage but no-one warned me that this might happen. I was lucky that after five days in hospital with no food it unblocked itself. I was told a bowel blockage can happen at any time, even years after surgery, so at least I know what to look out for now.
Try not to worry about it too much as it's a normal thing that can happen. Unfortunately, there are side effects and this is just one of them. I often wonder what else is round the corner. Now, eight years later they've just discovered I have a minor lung problem which was probably due to the anaesthetic for the surgery. There always seems to be something.
Good luck with getting it all sorted out. It will be, one way or the other.
Best wishes and take care. xx
I am four weeks after surgery for first recurrence and have had terrible bowel problems. I think it’s from adhesions from my first surgery.Good luck ,hope they can sort it out quickly for you .
Will you have to have surgery?
