Hi all, I finished my first round of chemo following radical de bulking in February. Unfortunately my Ca125 has been steadily rising since then on Avastin . It’s recently jumped up and a CT scan shows possible activity so I will now have Carboplatin and liposomal doxorubicin . The only downside is that I reacted to the Carboplatin at the end of the previous cycles so I have to be re challenged. I will start with a tiny amount for an hour then it will be increased and I will have extra anti allergy drugs .
Has anyone had this treatment. Plus can I ask is anyone taking part in a trial of newer drugs?
I was stage 3 when diagnosed .
Plus has anyone had this and had Niraparib at the same time ? Currently I will have the chemo first then start the Niraparib . ( I’m Brack negative )
Wishing everyone a happy day . Personally , I do try to stay positive but getting a bit difficult now .
Love to all . 😊🥰🙏🙏

Sorry to ask a stupid question, I think my center may do something similar every time as the first hour of carbo is always run super slow. Carbo takes forever. I know someone who was rechallenged with carbo but the first time they were rechallenged it was in the hospital inpatient (then moved back to Outpatient once it was a success).
I did have a similar treatment. Carbo/doxil then start a Parp. I just started Lymparza not the parp you're to start but I'm in US. Also BRCA neg. I found carbo/doxil much easier than carbo/Paxil but still butt-kicking by round six.
I was also stage 3 when diagnosed.
My recurrence hit me hard. I knew I'd probably recur but when it actually hAppended I just still wasn't mentally ready. I started trying to find the right statistic model to figure out how much time I have left. Spoiler alert there's no answer. I made my dad promise to move down here to make sure my son graduated from high school if I died. But here I am, so far second IV chemo pause longer than the first. Feeling decent. Traveling. Watching my baby in his senior year.
Thank you . It’s reassuring to know you are doing so well after the 2nd chemo —- I always knew that it may return but I guess I tried to convince myself that it would take much longer . It hits me most when I wake up in the early hours . Like everyone, I keep praying that a new drug will be found that will actually kill off this awful disease. X x
I have a bad reaction to carboplatin so my regime is desensitising tablets the day before chemo and on day of chemo then drug is administered diluted in three bags takes about three hours. I find this has worked for me tho so much fluid by the time I am on third bag I am back and forwards to the loo.
That is the treatment my oncologist described . It’s a relief to know that the anti allergy treatment works . Good luck and I hope you recover and keep well x
I did not react to Carbo but to Doxil they quickly flushed with saline added more Benadryl and no issues since. I have just finished my six sessions and will start on Olaparib/Lymparza in January. I too am BRACA negative a lot of us out here. Diagnosed Dec 2019 Stage 3c HGS OC 2nd reoccurrence in May of 2021 very disappointing. Hoping this will keep the dragon away whilst I complete my bucket traveling list this year! Keep looking ahead!
Hi there, I just started carbo Doxil for my first recurrence. I was initially diagnosed as stage 3, but am now stage 4 with multiple mets in liver, and probably one in lung. I have my best friend from elementary school coming to visit me in New Orleans for Christmas. She wants to go to a male strip club on Bourbon Street! 😂What the heck is she thinking? Even if my sensibilities would allow me to attend such a show, my immune system won’t permit it. I’m hoping to have the energy to ride through City Park to enjoy all the holiday lights and maybe attend midnight mass with my Catholic friend at St. Louis Cathedral in the French Quarter. Anyway, I hope we all can enjoy the holidays with our loved ones this year and God bless us everyone! Sashay
