2 YEARS ON THIS WEEK AND STILL SOMETIMES TENDER AFTER FULL HYSTERECTOMY AND OMENTECTOMY +

Hi All,

Just been googling..probably shouldnt have ! But came across this site. It is now 2 years on since I had EVERYTHING out except lymph glands. Luckily no cancer. They did the omentum bit as they said it looked nasty so took it out, along with a 45 cm nasty looking cyst tumor ! I have quite a long scar from as low down as possible right up past my belly button about another 10cm. All went fine and not really any pain to speak of thank goodness. I think I have recovered really well. Apart from my biopsy appointment which was all good, I have never had any other appointments to see anyone or how I was getting on. Since the op I have been very active as much as I know my body allows, dug a pond, built a workshop, all heavy manual labour things, sort of normal for me. I was aware of a "stinging" sensation across my tummy and scar and I knew when i should stop and not overdo things. Anyway all is well but I do still get a stinging sensation and can be incredibly tender at times. As I am in menopause the weight has piled on and my tummy sort of hangs down a bit, looks like I am wearing a baggy jumper, muffin top I believe ! I wonder if the weight is pulling at scar tissue and that makes it tender. Even my cats paw just touching me can be slightly painful. If I sit for a long time it can be uncomfortable. Not really bad but I am aware of it. I can just touch parts of my middle with my finger tip very gently and just run it across and some areas feel tender like a really bad bruise. But it is not consistent. Sometimes whilst gardening and bending a lot the waistband on my jeans starts to dig in and feel uncomfortable. I mostly wear loose clothing and I am very careful about leaning or pushing against anything with my front still, after 2 years. Like washing up at the sink, I stand away slightly so I dont push into it.

Just wondered does anyone else have anything like this.

I feel fine overall and everything is functioning ok ! Just my fat tummy is tender sometimes.

Ta

Hi I'm thinking it's time to get any changes checked out. It may well be as you say. It may just be the extra bit of weight in that area affecting the internal scar tissue but you need it checking. The sensitivity you describe also needs checking out. Sounds like you had great results from surgery but any changes should be checked out. Good luck.👍

Hi Lou

I still get soreness and sometimes stinging on my scar. I had open abdominal Surgery twice , scar is from breast to pubic bone. Last surgery in August 2017. Don’t forget that they cut through not only skin and fat but nerves too.

You can develop scar tissue after such extensive surgery. I’m on a Parp and remain NED. Have it checked out just in case.

Good luck

Kay
